The building itself is interesting - a huge pentagonal fortress that served as quarantine station, warehouse, barracks and fortress and that today seems to be mostly empty and slightly run down so there is not that much to do or see other than the architecture....More

La Mole was the highlight of my trip to Ancona. Sitting (historically) strategically near the port, it is well worth having a look at. Crossing the short land-bridge to enter the external walls, it feels like many old buildings: full of character, charm, in need...More

A lovely courtyard, where the old plague hospital used to be- lazzaretto. In summer there are live performances in the evening, and two museums all the year round. It is very close to the harbour

I'm from this city. The place is pretty cool to look at from outside, but the inside isn't well kept. It is sometimes dirty, but it still has some cool things to show you. The "mole vanvitelliana" or "lazzaretto" offers you the greatest attractions during...More

Closer to the mole, during the summer time (half June, half Sept) there is a nice bar, easy going. You can enjoy the Anconetane nights with the locals. If you are like you can find some concerts and cinema and performance inside the mole. The...More
