We aren't Catholic but we enjoyed our visit. We purchased the Omnia pass which gave us skip the line access to both the basilica and the Vatican Museums. We paid the extra to climb the 551 steps to the top of the cupola. Great view....More

Highly recommended regardless of your religion. Also recommend that you have a good guided tour with radios. Just walking through is nice, but a good guide will give you a much greater experience including the history, some of the stories about the different art and...More

A very busy spot, avoid summer visits. Go down to see the tombs of past Popes. John Paul the second is on the ground floor in its own special place. The queue for the dome was ridiculous, pre book if you want to go up.

This was definitely the highlight of the Vatican tour that we did. The dome dominates the skyline from a distance and the inside is equally as impressive.

This basilica definitely belongs to the "must sees" of Rome. It is one of the most beautiful and impressing churches in the world. Unfortunately, to get inside, one has to pass a personal inspection, which usually means a pretty long waiting in a queue. I...More

We went around noon one day and the line was over 2 hours long to get in. The next day we went about 3 pm and the line was only 20 minutes long. The size of the church is incredible. There is beauty everywhere. It...More

We actually paid for a guided tour which cut out the queues.... though there was still queuing ... and it was 45 Euro per head. But you have to set this in the context that you get comprehensive information about Vatican... More

Yes do it. Unless you plan to make another visit in the near future you should see as much as you can to take advantage of the time you are there.

Definitely don't miss taking a tour of the museum and Sistine chapel. If your audience is in the afternoon or later morning , I would book a tour before the museum opens to the public in the morning. We went early and had no... More
