This masterpiece shows St. Peter sitting bearded and dressed as a philosopher, with his left hand carrying keys, the right hand being raised in blessing.

This statue, the oldest in the Basilica, is representing St Peter like a philosopher. It's close to the baldacchino, on the right, you can't miss it. There is a long line to the statue, but it's worth it.

Old bronze sculpture of St. Peter is the oldest figure in huge church. It is in the middle of the main nave and too close to the visitors. They are kissing and caressing the feet and the toes without mercy and bronze lost original form.

One of many beautiful things to see in the man of the same names church, his left foot is worn away from the many pilgrims touching and kissing it over the years. You haven't been to Rome unless you visit this amazing church.

it is rarer to see the piece finished in darker tones, your tour guide will explain the piece and history of it, the pieces within the Vatican are in pristine condition compared to so many other parts of Rome.

There is a statue of St. Peter Enthroned near the nave. The base is worn from pilgrims touching and blessing themselves.

Situated in the St Peter Basilica, the most important statue of St. Peter. If you notice carefully the foot of this brass statue is eroded due to the pilgrims touching it continuously to take blessings.

St. Peter's Basilica is the world's biggest church. Its size is enormous, its decors speechless. Saying that, many people overlook this statue of a Saint buried beneath and after whom it got its name. The statue is on the right hand side of the central...More

There was a short line for the statue of St. Peter (who is holding the keys to the kingdom of heaven) to touch his foot, which has literally worn thin. Our guide explained the people touch the foot of the statue and pray to St....More
