We aren't religious but we felt that seeing the Pope on Sunday would be a nice thing to do. St Peter's Square itself is huge and imposing. Dan Brown 'Angels and Demons' fans will find that all of the direction plaques that are places around...More

We made 4 visits to St. Peter’s square while visiting Rome at Christmas and highly recommend a visit to anyone traveling to Rome. The scale of the square, the sweep of the colonnades, the imposing sight of St. Peter’s basilica and the Vatican residences and...More

One of the cleanest place in Rome, which is surprising considering the other part of the city. Overall it looks very nice :) but you know this is just a square and square always be only square nothing more.

It's very nice and it's what I expected. I went there to hear the Angelus precided over by The Holy Father. It was a nice experience

Look up to see the very interesting statues all around the square, there are fountains with ducks swimming in them, can get very crowded with queues of people waiting to get into the Vatican and also traps the heat and can get really hot at...More

A must see. Beautiful. Historic. Go here early to beat the crowds. Go late and expect to be pushed around by the tour buses

I’ve seen this on the TV so often and was simply thrilled to see it and be there in real life! Such a huge expanse and of such historical and present day importance. Amazing!

Highly recommend this unbelievable place! To look at and appreciate every painting would take a very long time. Such beauty! Strong military presence with big guns being carried.

When we first reached the Square with the tour, (from the front looking back to the Basilica) it looked an awful lot smaller than you would think having seen crowd shots on films and TV. But then when you look at it from the front...More

Not sure about the Square but I recall a small post office just before you exit the Vatican museum. Of course, you have to have entered the museum in the first place so not much use if you haven't prebooked tickets and don't... More

Not that I saw. As I think about it, I don't remember seeing anyone sitting. There are no benches. I don't think you can even sit on the edge of the fountain. It's kind of a take pictures spot. There are cafes right before... More
