This square, unfortunately, is kept in a poor condition, but it could be so wonderful ... the Mausoleum of Augustus lies in the center, there are several churches, the Ara Pacis museum, and several large, interesting buildings from the Fascist period with giant porticos, which host various restaurants (including several in the 'Gusto chain). I know there's an occasional flea market under the porticoes, and I've seen a group all dancing the tango there. It really could be a dynamic and attractive space. Personally, I like this square, but it needs some creative urban planning and a lot of tender loving care. I'd love to see the Mausoleum conserved and re-opened, the ugly fencing removed, the square's various pavements repaired, the parking situation made less intrusive, and the local fountain conserved...

Piazza Augusto Imperatore is a reasonably decent Square, with a number of restaurants, cafes and other shops in the area. There are several important sites, such the Mausoleum of Augustus, the Ara Pacis, great churches, and so on. The Mausoleum is undergoing restoration, so it's closed. The area is worth a visit, if for no other reason, than it's full of history.

Some lovely architecture and buildings in this piazza but the focal point, the Mausoleum of Augustus, is run down, overgrown and not opened (apparently for some time now). You can see it through the fence and it looks as if it could be a very impressive tourist sight. I believe it also contained the ashes of Augustus' wife, Livia as well as other emperors of Rome, such as Caligula and Tiberius. Such a shame it hasn't been given more attention.

This is another must see destination in Rome which is often overlooked. This temple is completely covered and has a temperature controlled environment free of pollution. One of the most important temples in Rome’s history.

Look, I know Rome has a lot to offer, but seriously. This is only the mausoleum of EMPEROR AUGUSTUS. But yeah, covered in litter of abandoned renovation and surrounded by a wall so you can barely see it. You know, who cares? What’s that guy done for us lately? Amiright?
