About
Our stable is located in the heart of Ancient Rome, on the Appian Way and we are the only one allowed to organize horseback ride along the Queen of Road! You can reach our stable with a 20mins taxi from the Colosseum or also with public transport. If you love horses, nature and history, a walk on horseback along the spectacular Appian Way and surrounding Park will be an experience you will never forget. With expert guides and horsemen, Sandro Bernardini and Andrea, you will see archeological treasures, some of which would be difficult to reach except on horseback. Sandro’s family has been in the area for over a century and he is a knowledgable guide, well versed in history as well as local lore. With 20 years of experience in equestrian tourism, we have created itineraries for all tastes and levels of riding experience (including none!)

Terrific experience- my 12 year old daughter and I did a 90 minute ride on the Appian Way, past villas, rolling fields and ancient tomb markers. My daughter has experience on a horse, and for me it was a first. I survived as the horses are easy and know their job, following the guide in single file. We also took the professional photographer option, snd Elsa produced stunning photos and did double duty as a translator. It is not far from central Rome and well worth it!

Amazing experience!

Horseriding on the Appia Antica was on my bucketlist for quite a long time, so after the lockdown I decided to finally book a 3-hour-ride. Best decision ever! I had a wonderful time; everyone was so nice, and eventhough I was a bit nervous to speak Italian they really kept talking to me and helping me where possible.
The communication beforehand was very easy and quick, even when I had to make a last-minute change this wasn't a problem. During the ride they had a lot of information about the Appia Antica and surroundings, so nice to see how proud they are of the place. And justly, it is absolutely beautiful there!
The horses are clearly well-cared for and very lively and energetic, but despite quite a lot of wind they kept listening very well.
After the ride Lorella was even nice enough to drop me off at the Metrostation so that I didn't have to walk.

One of the best experiences I had so far being in this beautiful city, and I will definetely visit there again!

Incredible Time!
Oct. 2019
I recently booked a horse and guide for a two hour ride along the Via Appia. I owned and rode horses as a kid, but it has been awhile since I've been riding. This was such a great experience. Lorella made it so easy to book the ride via email. The stable is a quick taxi ride from the center of Rome, but in reality a world away. It is calm and peaceful, and the countryside surrounding Rome is indeed tranquil. I was paired with a horse who knew his way around and was a little frisky in his old age. Sandro, my guide, was really knowledgeable about all of the architecture and history along the Via Appia; he was a perfect guide. Our afternoon was capped by eating lunch in the barn made by the owner's grandma. This meal was fresh, delicious, and quintessentially Roman. It was a wonderful way to end our time at the stable. I could not think of a better way to spend a day in Rome than this.

I booked a 3 hour ride as an experienced rider, speaking little to no Italian. Upon arrival it was easy to see the horses were glossy and fit - obviously well cared for! The stables were beautifully rustic but clean and tidy too
We set off quickly and I was taught many fascinating things about the history of our surroundings, I had the chance to trot and gallop, we saw some gorgeous scenery and I had my photo taken at a couple of points
It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely return
I loved my horse, she looked after me but was happy to step it up a gear as a rider
We were invited to sit and enjoy our lunch after the ride and were joined by some friendly barn cats too
A true taste of the Italian countryside!

Great experience!

Second time on horseback, but Sandro (guide) was calming and had complete control all the way. My companion was an experienced rider and was allowed to unfold herself. Both very happy. The scenery was beautiful and very interesting stories along the way. And to top it off we had a great meal at the end, homemade from the grandma. Eduardo took great care of us and was the greatest host.

extraordinary experience

I am an American professor teaching American students in Rome. I'm an avid equestrian and asked my students if they would like to experience Rome on horseback. Eight of them took me up on it and when we returned, the others were jealous. We opted to have an authentic four course meal first (cooked by the grandmother and great grandmother and served by the son). The trip was worth the meal itself, and then came the horseback ride. It was fantastic and Sondro pointed out the sites that dated back thousands of years, including a stretch of cobblestones upon which we rode. I worked via WhatsApp to communicate with the lovely Lorella who arranged everything beautifully. The horses knew their job, to the great relief of my riders with no experience. The 118 bus out of Ara Coeli/Piazza Venezia drops you right off at the foot of the hill to the equine facility. Takes 25 minutes and the countryside is beautiful!

Great horseback ride away from the tourists!
Aug. 2019
Great experience away from the crowds of tourists. We opted for a 1 hour ride early morning Saturday, but wish we had arranged for a longer ride. During this 1 hour, I really felt I was on vacation. Very relaxing to be on a long slow ride in peace and quiet. And what a place to ride! The Appian way! Horses are gentle so no worries for inexperienced riders. Sandro was our guide. He and his family own the stable and the farm. They are so welcoming! When we couldn't get an Uber ride, Sandro's son called a taxi for us and gave us water. Grandma and their dog kept us company until the taxi arrived.

So if you want to do more than follow the crowds, take the short car ride out to the stables.

Great Experience!
Jul. 2019 • Couples
We had a great 90 min ride on the Appian Way! We had been before, but wanted to come back specifically and ride horses on it as we had seen others doing. Neither of us had a lot of experience, but still felt comfortable. This is an extremely authentic experience and is not at all touristy. As such, there is not a ton of direction or in-depth explanations of historical monuments, and if you want a tour focused on the historical sites, there are other ones that do that. However, if you want an extremely unique and wonderful experience, do not hesitate to book this. I look forward to coming back! Thanks for a great time!

Amazing! Best day of our trip!
Jul. 2019 • Family
Our ride was magic! Me, my husband and my 24 years old son! The place is marvelous, the sunset, the silence, the birds singing and to finish, the lovely and delicious dinner prepared by nonna Elena and served by his grandson Eduardo. So kind, always happy, with a divine energy. Simply unforgetable!
Thanks family! You made our trip even better 🙏❤️
