This is the small square directly in front of the Pantheon in the heart of Rome. It takes its name from the Pantheon's informal name Santa Maria Rotunda and was for several centuries the location of busy food and bird market scenes.

These days, you will find the square filled with cafes with outdoor seating. There is an interesting fountain and obelisk monument as well, the fountain created by Giacomo della Porta (1575) while the ancient Egyptian obelisk known as Marcuteo was incorporated into the monument in 1711.

The square is very crowded during much of the day and evening due to the high number of tourists stopping by to visit the Pantheon. Pass by first thing in the morning before the crowds arrive if you want to see the monuments here in more leisurely conditions.

Great views of the Pantheon & surrounding fountains.

We came here for pizza and it was the best we had whilst staying in the city! Such delicious flavours and so fresh. We also had a bottle of the house red wine as recommended by our server and it was very good and great value!

Would definitely recommend coming here & wish we had a chance to grab one last pizza before we left!

Piazza della Rotonda is a beautiful square where you find Pantheon. For this reason it’s extremely popular and busy. Pantheon was standing here long before all this and so the square took shape around it. That’s why the piazza gets its name from the Pantheon's informal title as the church of Santa Maria Rotonda. We’ve been here many many times but this last time it was different due to the pandemic so I’m uploading photos without crowds.

This is a nice square outside the majestic Pantheon, featuring a beautiful fountain, several patio restaurants and interesting side streets. It's a lovely place to pass some time, enjoying a meal or drink and watching the people. But on busy days (like Sundays), this piazza can be VERY crowded and noisy. Better to come on a weekday if you can to have a more peaceful setting.

The Piazza della Rotonda is located , on the south side of the Pantheon.

Located in the centre of the piazza is a fountain, the Fontana del Pantheon, surmounted by an Egyptian obelisk.

The square is pedestrian only and can be quite crowded and popular especially those waiting in line to see the Pantheon.

Vibrant area with cafes, delis and restaurants.

Our accommodation was right around the corner from Pantheon and a stones throw from Piazza della Rotonda. This proved extremely beneficial for us in terms of identifying nooks and crannies, side streets and less tourist-dominated restaurants and bars. The Piazza is busy with the masses piling into Pantheon and milling around the fountain. Close by, restaurants like SHARIVARI for lunch and Mr. 100 Tiramisù for desserts are ones to look out for.

We love the Piazza della Rotunda. Come twilight, it's a magical place to stroll through or relax in. The Pantheon sits there in all its brilliance. Additionally, the Fontana del Pantheon is a wonderful, 16th century fountain.

Make sure to walk the length of the piazza for all the great Pantheon views. You can also fill up your water bottle from a cistern here.

A square that would normally be considered quite large. However, here, with so many gardens and the huge Pantheon in the middle, it all makes a downright claustrophobic impression. it cannot be denied that the Pantheon dominates and covers everything around. Nevertheless, the square itself is quite nice, but I won't include it on the list of Top Squares in Rome.

This piazza is most popular for having the Pantheon in it, but the piazza itself is also a pleasant experience, with a big Egyptian obelisk in it and plenty of restaurants. It's not any fancier or more unique than any other piazza in Rome, but it's a pleasant way to spend some time. Sit at one of the bordering cafés and enjoy some good food.

It's a lovely square in front of the Pantheon. It has a picturesque fountain in the middle with an obelisk. People may rest, refresh themselves with water and take some photos. The square is surrounded by restaurants, cafes and ice cream shops.
