Displaying the Bernini masterpiece "The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa", depicting an angel piercing her heart with a shaft, during which she felt great pain and joy, is what gets the punters in and is definitely the highlight of the visit. However the church itself is...More

Santa Maria della Vittoria is a small (relatively) barrocan church. It is settled in Vía XX Settembre, not far from San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane and Quirinale Palazzo. The church was built to conmemorate the White Mountain battle, which had big impact on Bohemian situation,...More

What I have learnt certainly in Italy is that you can never trust in the humble appearance of a church, building, museum from outside. You have to cross the entrance door and then, what is contained there for sure will be amazing and invaluable. This...More

A woman asked us to pay 1€ for each person to enter the church. I‘m not sure she belongs to the church or not.

This church holds the exquisite Ecstasy of Saint Teresa sculpture - an absolute masterpiece by Bernini One of the few pieces of religious art with suggestive carnal undertones. The sculpture is used in varied religious documentaries about the RC faith If in Rome, it would...More

This is one of my favourite works and the main reason for visiting Rome - here you have one of Bernini's most famous works that you can see for free in the church - a highlight if you are a fan of his work!

the churches in Europe are amazing, please try and visit as many as you can to appreciate the workmanship, even if you are not religious. Entry is free.
