This church hosts a number of concerts from operas to classical concerts in the heart of Roma. Trying to see an opera play or concert is an intimate, unmissable experience if you want to enjoy a classical entertainment in the center of Rome. The church is located just across the street from Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, a very short walk... More

This was my first visit to the opera, so I'm not a total opera buff but the night and the location was highly enjoyable. Personally I was more into the music than the singing so sat there focusing on the orchestra quite a lot. One of the only things that spoiled the occasion was the lady sitting adjacent to us... We went to all three different presentations during out visit to Rome and enjoyed every one of them. We stumbled on it by accident and wandered in. We enjoyed the first night so much that we came back for the other two performances. We sat in the "cheap seats" at the back for 20Euros, but the seats were still quite... More

We got the front row seats and were not disappointed. We all really enjoyed the performance and felt the variety of familiar songs and length of time overall added to our enjoyment.

This Episcopal church is a great find on the Via Napoli. The outside does not look like a typical Roman church so, curious, we walked in. What glorious Byzantine frescoes greeted us. The entire Sanctary is covered with gold lined frescoes. A dark interior shines with the light of the frescoes. The church was built in 1837, the first non-Catholic... More

what a surprise when you walk thru the doors into what looks like will be a dark interior ... and instead what greets you is a sight as good as any in the Vatican .. so much gold in a stunning mosaic from floor to ceiling

Bought tickets online for la Traviata at the church and had a very nice experience. Everything concerning the administration and E-ticket on the phone worked fine. The musicians and singers performed very well. Two balletdancers gave the opera a little touch of something else and interacted with the audience. Price in the low end.

We visited the Grand Italian arias opera night and were so impressed by the quality of musicianship and singers. next time we visit Rome we plan to attend salon Margherita for an opera and will reserve a private box with a meal served during each act change. Great introduction to the popera and highly recommended.

So enjoyable ! People start getting there at 7:30 for their pick of seats ! The acoustics are so grate, it really doesn't matter where you sit. Just BRING A FAN !! It is very warm in there. At intermission, they serve a lemon liquior, yum ! The string quartet and pianist are fantastic too. The price is very reasonable... More

On the way to the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore we notice a stripy exterior of the American Episcopal church of St Paul's Within the Walls. The Church of St Paul's Within the Walls is the first non-Roman Catholic church to be built inside the walls of Rome. It is a famous 19th century church with exceptional acoustics and... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
