Piazzale Garibaldi is a really great spot to visit. There must be one such spot in practically every city in Italy. There certainly is one in every city we have visited in Italy, and we have been to quite a few! The views are absolutely...More

We always make a visit here because the views across Rome are to die for. There's always a steady stream of people having a drink and watching the world go by and taking pictures but it is never stupidly busy. There's (obviously) a decent hill...More

You get to see a truely titanic view of Rome's ancient skyline from this hilltop position so it's well worth the walk up the hill (which takes about 20 minutes on foot all up hill). As well as the views, there's some statues including an...More

The walk up to this Piazzale is definitely worth it, because the view of the city is spectacular. You must go see this.

If you have a little time up your sleeve at the end of the afternoon, this is a must see. Perched on the hill above the Trastevere the Piazzale Garibaldi affords you the most glorious view of Rome. Some say it's the very best view...More

I took a walk up here last week from Trastevere early one morning last week and the uphill walk was certainly worth it. Imposing statute of Guiseppe Garibaldi on his horse in the middle of the piazza and simply stunning views across the city from...More

My wife and I took a taxi from our hotel near Piazza Navona to the Piazzale Giuseppe Garibaldi atop Janiculum Hill. We hadn’t been to the Piazzale since we first went to Rome almost 20 years ago, even though we’d been back to Rome at...More

I caught a taxi to the top of the Janiculum Hill from where I would walk downhill through Trastevere back to the Tiber. There were great views across Rome from the hill. A statue to the national hero - Garibaldi - was there. Quite a...More

Beautiful views of the city of Rome from the top of Janiculum Hill! Our tour operator took us there first for an introduction to the city before visiting other sites. We were traveling by cruise ship and only had one day in Rome. Hope to...More

Little vendors are up at the hilltop... Get here before sunset on a clear day. Grab a coffee or wine and sit to watch the sun change the views of Rome. Lovely park and lovely place to sit and unwind before a late dinner.

Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded
postcard, a little worn around the edges but still
charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering
streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and
overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible
mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of
entertainment - a rotating set of street performers
entertains almost every night, and unforgettable
