Rome and the popes never persecuted the jewish residents until one pope thought building a ghetto would convince the jews to convert... NOT. Only synagogue whose roots go back to second temple 70AD when Rome pillaged and detroyed. Lots of nice artifacts.

We had a fantastic 3 hour tour with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. We saw the beautiful big synagogue and the adjoining museum as well as the ghetto and Jewish area. It was so interesting and we really enjoyed ourselves so much.

Booked through Viatour...this was a fascinating glimpse into the history of Jewish Rome as well as the areas around Campo di Fiori and Trastevere. Our guide, Claudio, was knowledgable and very pleasant. Would recommend highly.

Not a long walk but very interesting. Small streets filled with interesting sights. Pallazzo Mattei gorgeous Supposedly good "sweets" to eat on the area!
