The train offered everything I needed - we were in economy 2nd class. Seats were comfortable, there were no dodgy people or beggars on the train (unlike on other local Italian trains), the tickets were affordable, the ride was quick for the distance travelled.

The trains run on time ALWAYS! Be there early because you can check where your car will be and it could take a while to walk down the platform. The platform numbers come up better than they did in the past. The trains have lost...More

We spent nearly $2000 for Eurail passes and reservation fees for a family of 4 (plus one "free" child under 12 so 5 people total but only 4 we had to pay for) for "5" days of travel between France/Italy/Austria/added a 4th country never went...More

First thing, just upgrade to first class, otherwise you are treated like cattle, in uncomfortable and inhospitable cars. Next, we took a train from Rome to Salerno & Salerno to Rome (amalfi coast day trip), the train coming back from Salerno into Roma Termini was...More

We took two trains - one from Florence to Rome and another to Naples. Both times traveled business class which was definitely worth it. Fare was inexpensive, trains were on-time, clean and getting to and from train stations was easy. Definitely recommend.

On our trip, we did a few different tren italia routes with varying results. The first was Rome to Pisa. This one was quite nice. It was air conditioned with a bathroom and nice seats with a tray table in front. This is highly recommended,...More

I have been traveling by rail in Europe for many years. The thrill is officially gone. I took a TAV from Milano to Roma and it was really awful. The seats are far worse than airline coach seats -- I did not think that was...More

Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only

I want to go from Rome to Florence. Spend 2 days in Florence then to Venice for 1 or 2 days. Is this possible?

Chihawksdan: What do you expect from a train that's has a lot of people getting on and off of it? This is not the train's fault it is the passengers'.

That's right. So expect that when you travel. I have yet to hve a late train...although they often change the platforms if you are not paying attention!

Hello. I wanted to know if you checked prices of the Europass vs purchasing single tickets for each of your journeys. Doing that would have saved you some of your frustration. Use information that can be useful BEFORE you go!
