    Experience ancient Rome
I came here as part of a tour, which I would recommend since it really helps understand what you are seeing. There ruins aren't as in tact as say the colosseum, so you do have to use your imagination a bit. However, still a very interesting place to visit.

Lots of walking but worth it
We really enjoyed this. The site is actually huge and you could easily spend a whole day in here. It was a nice walk some exposed areas in the sun and then other parts in the shade. Take plenty of water with you! If you buy a ticket to the colosseum this is included in your entry price and you can go two days after visiting the colosseum. We arrived at 5 and rushed round it as they close pretty sharpish. Great opportunity for some photos of the city ! Nowhere to buy food or drink once your inside from what I saw though!

    Great site to visit
We visited here straight after our visit to the colosseum. The site is much bigger than it looks from the outside. Make sure you pick up a drink and snacks before you head in though as there's wasn't anything available inside. There's actually a lot to see but you don't get a map when entering so hard to know the layout or what's what! We took in the main sites and were still in there for about 2 hours. Well worth a look and the route we took brings you out at the bottom near Piazza venezio. Be aware of the men trying to sell African bracelets as you exit though as they can be a bit relentless!

    Interesting history of historic Rome
My wife and I visited Palatine Hill as part of a combination ticket with the Forum and the Colosseum. We had a guide or otherwise the tour would have been meaningless to us. As Bob Dylan said, “the streets of Rome are filled with rubble, ancient footprints are everywhere.”

    Book tickets in advance!
Fortunately, we booked tickets in advance and didn’t have to queue. Nice walk, a lot of thing to see. It is connected to Roman forum. As it is quite large with cobblestone and ups and downs I would not recommend it for people with strollers, small children and elderly. It can take couple of hours to go through everything. Entrance on the side of the Roman forum was soooo crowded, around 12pm. Literally hundreds of people queueing. Some places get very crowded.

    Amazingly It’s Still Standing!
Interesting to see these structures still exist after all of this time? We went with our tour guide after seeing the Colosseum and walked through the ruins! Interesting so see how the Romans built everything in the city? Worth a look at taking in the sites.

Colleseum + Palatine + Roman Forum in 1 session
Your colleseum tickets will include entrances to Palatine and Roman Forum. Very nice place to walk all the way up to Palatine Hill for birds eye view of the entire place. In Nov, it closes at 3pm, so be sure to go early after your Colleseum visit.

    Fascinating!
Incredible and fascinating! It is truly awe inspiring to walk through and imagine what it was like to have built and lived in these incredible building (now ruins). Palatine Hill is big so I would recommend spending close to half a day there and perhaps getting a tour as we would have benefited from this to help with a bit more context and history.

    Treasure trove of Roman civilization
Long considered as a symbol of Rome's foundation and glory, Palatine Hill stood proudly as the most renowned of Rome's 7 storied hills where upper class citizens built their opulent palaces during the Ancient Rome civilization period. Its historical and mythological significance is unparalleled - it was reputed to shelter the Lupercal, the sacred cave where the she-wolf is said to have nurtured Rome's legendary founders, Romulus and Remus, and it was the birthplace of the first Roman Emperor, Augustus. The Palatine Hill is an integral part of the triad of ancient sites that includes the adjacent Colosseum and Roman Forum whereby a single ticket grants access to all three historic sites. On Palatine Hill, you can see hundreds of ruins of imposing temples and palaces constructed for ancient Roman's high society, with the most notable being the Domus Flavia, House of Augustus, Farnese Gardens and Hippodrome of Domitian. There's even a museum displaying artifacts unearthed from the site. Together with the connecting Roman Forum, you would need at least half a day to cover the entire sprawling imperial ruins. Traversing the paths of Palatine Hill is to walk in the footsteps of the Romans through the centuries and unearthing the layers of time to appreciate its fascinating history.

    A cultural gem
As I made my way up Palatine Hill, I was immediately taken aback by the stunning views of the Roman Forum and Circus Maximus below. One of the highlights of my experience on Palatine Hill was wandering through the lush gardens and terraces that overlook the city. The peaceful atmosphere and scenic vistas made for a truly unforgettable moment of reflection and appreciation for Rome's enduring legacy...

Our timed guided tour ticket for The Colosseum gave us free entry to the Palestine Hill and Forum archaeological site. This was great because we spent 3 hours walking through the Forum and places of the Roman emperors before making our way to The Colosseum. You enter the site through the entrance opposite The Colosseum. Be prepared to empty your pockets and bags before going through security and then having your person scanned before entering this famous historical site. We took advantage of downloading a historical mobile phone guide found on the internet. This was invaluable in helping us get an informed understanding of the importance of this area to Imperial Rome. The site is huge and has numerous vantage points of the city and it’s antiquities. There are vending machines dotted around where you can purchase refreshments and toilets are located onsite and signposted. There are numerous information boards giving you explanations in Italian, English and Chinese. Walking along the ancient roadway straddled by the famous buildings I had read about as a child I felt privileged to have the opportunity to walk in the steps of the ancient Romans and marvel at their skills.

Having visited the Palatine Hills previously I was always sad how few things you could in fact see usually, although it has been known that spectacular sites existed, but they had not been open for a while. This has changed in 2019 and 2020, when several sights, like the Casa di Augusto, Casa di Livia, the Domus Transitoria or another Renaissance Loggia can be now seen when you get your super ticket. After mandatory reservations you get tours of these places (unfortunately suspended at the moment, let's hope mid of 2021 it might be possible again). Those offer spectacular frescoes, remains of ancient floors, and also some backstory of how the Imperial palaces evolved, particularly in the early years of the Roman Empire.

October is a fine time to visit Rome. The weather is still very pleasant (25C) but not overly oppressive that you will wilt in the heat. A level of reasonable fitness needed to get around a lot of walking and steps. Beautiful views the place is steeped in history. Tickets purchased via tiquets.com - advise to buy a month in advance, the ticket admission includes the Collisuem as well as the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill

We had a chance to visit this place with coordination of our travel guide from gladiators tours and was impressed with our tour guide in providing information on every detail areas we can see. I learned a lot on this tour and very logical in explaining every details of the site. It so happen that this place has a lot stories to tell to better understand what romans did during their golden era.

Great place to visit with wonderful views over Rome, we visited here as part of a combined ticket including The Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Forum. However we found that this did not include access to the museum and the House of Livia, so investigate this before you go. We were pretty tired after seeing every thing else and so weren't that upset to miss the museum, however would have been nice for completeness. Our ticket included the downloadable Vox city guide which was useful in all 3 locations.

Palatine Hill includes the home of Augusta and the world's first botanic gardens. As you get further up the hill you see more of the residences of the emperor's of Rome, so they get posher! Save the visit to the gardens til the end so you can finish with a stunning view over the whole of ancient Rome including the Colloseum and the Forum.

Stunning place to visit. We spent around 2 hours here, after the Colosseum and Forum.

So we had full experience tickets that get you in just across from the Colosseum. This was a good purchase on a very warm Rome afternoon. So when you enter just keep to the left and go up the hill. So many people go right and have to climb steps. We were almost On our own as people do not look at maps. To the left you will
Go uphill and you will find a small opening to the gardens. Some great views of the Colosseum from this point. A nice walk around the gardens to the north and you can see almost all of Vatican. A great spot and a toilet on route. Very clean and tidy, there is some great spots to stop for a break within the gardens. Take water bottles as you can fill them at the Three different water taps on route. We came down at the fountain with the gold fish. You can then hit the lower grounds having seen it from above. When leaving you can always fill your water bottles again outside the Metro station where they have a booths that do sparkling or still for free. My only gripe is the amount of illegal immigrants pestering everyone around the Colosseum. Beware they say they are selling water, they are profiling you for pick pockets. Never buy anything from them and never get cash out to buy things from them. That said, a great afternoon for the family if you take a guidebook with you to keep them interested.

We assumed (incorrectly) that we could visit the Palatine Hill after visiting the Colosseum with a timed ticket mid morning, then going to the Roman Forum. We left the Forum to get lunch, returned to go to Palatine Hill, and were told that you need to visit directly from the Forum. Other tourists were also turned away because they were not aware it was a combined ticket with no re-entry. We returned another day and saw it what we could from the street. I would recommend allowing plenty of time for the Roman Forum and Palatine combined tour, especially if you want to visit the museum.

Palatine Hill is an incredible collection of palace ruins set atop the most central of the Seven Hills of Rome. We spent three hours traipsing through the sights and museum, which is the perfect place to cool off after exploring.

From Domitian's Imperial Ramp, at the north end of the hill, the visitor is rewarded with unparalleled views of the Forum below. We stayed up at the view point for quite some time, identifying the temples below we were about to descend and see.

The Palatine Hill has a large number of huge Roman buildings, so come prepared for a lot of walking! Amazing place.

I went in June 2020 and due to COVID the €22 adult/€4 under-25s tickets are only sold on-line. They include entrance to the Colosseum (you have to choose an entrance time) and the Roman Forum/Palantine Hill complex. Valid for 24 hours after you enter the Colosseum.
