Andrea's cooking classes were the highlight of our trip to Rome. The trip was in celebration of our son's 21st and included 2 cooking classes. Time flew by and under Andrea's instruction, 12 of us managed to prepare the beautiful array of fresh ingredients into a delicious 4 course meal. Whatever your skill level, everyone gets involved and Andrea imparts... More

We usually do a cooking class or two when we travel and this one did not disappoint. Chef kept us busy throughout and our fellow students were terrific companions. The final results were delicious and not the usual fare. Chef was accommodating of special requests and the wine parings were well worth the additional expense. Recommended.

Start to finish, Chef Andrea Consoli is a class act. No detail is overlooked. Reservations (a bit in advance) were easy to make and you know from the start your experience will be personalized as he asks for food allergies as well as dishes you may want to try cooking. The ingredients are organic and beautiful. You learn why each... More

What a fun evening we had with Chef Andrea and his wife. Every aspect of the visit was really enjoyable. Our group was in Rome on business and we had a special evening session at Cooking Classes in Rome. I love to cook and learned a lot more than I expected about Italian ingredients, cooking techniques and the wine pairings.... More

Chef Andrea did an amazing job teaching the 12 people in our class the techniques of the dishes we prepared as well as the philosophy behind the cuisine in the Lazio region that includes Rome. There was an emphasis on fresh and organic. My wife and I enjoyed the Chef's enthusiasm and humor, and we will definitely use what we... More

I really don't know how else I could praise this experience in a different way than the other 550 people that found it also exceptional. It teaches you not only to cook a few courses, but also it makes you understand a few things about roman gastronomic culture and history. I should make myself clear, I'm a catastrophe in the... If you love food, travel and cooking you will love class with Chef Andrea! My husband and I took Andrea's class in Sept 2014 and loved every minute. Not only did we receive an authentic Roman meal we learned all about what makes the cuisine authentic in the first place. Every thing we cooked was delicious; the chef was attentive,... More

My girlfriend and I were in Rome in July 2014. We had a great time with Chef Andrea and consider his class to be one of the highlights of our trip. His English is very good and he was able to integrate some interesting history of food culture in Rome. He shops each morning at local markets for ingredients so... More

Chef Andrea not only treated us to a traditional experience of Italian cooking in Rome, but also shared his knowledge of food how the Italian table brings people together. He has a broad understanding of food, cuisine, experience and knowledge, and we were extremely fortunate to have him share it with us. He is like a guide, leading and teaching... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
