Great investment to learn the history of Rome!

We booked a tour of the Vatican and the Colosseum in January 2017 for our family of two adults and three children aged 6, 12 and 14. We were having problems with being able to email details to the company at short notice at our end and they were very patient with us to get it all organised. The two... More

We booked two half day tours with Ferdinando on our most recent trip to Rome in November after having first met him earlier this year. That's how good he is. Our group had 4 adults and 4 kids between 9 and 11 years and I was worried they would be bored. But it was far from that. He regaled them... More

It was great to travel with our guide, Marta, during our stay in Rome. We spent parts of two days with Marta, one trip to Ostia Antica where she taught us how the ancient Romans lived and on the other she led us through the Colosseum and Forum showing us how ancient Rome ruled. A highlight for me was the... More

Best money spent!!! What an incredible day spent with Luca, breakfast inside St. Peter's, practically having the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel to ourselves. Than off to the Colosseum, where he made it come alive with stories of Gladiator's glory survival and death, finally off to the Forum, without him it would have been difficult to navigate one structure... If you are planning on visiting Rome you have to book Luca as your tour guide. He gives tours to small groups to whatever attractions that you want to see in Rome for a very reasonable price! He can do tours of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, Catacombs, Underground Rome, Roman Forum, and anything else that you would want to see... More

Marta led my husband and friend and me on a 4 hour tour of Ancient Rome. Though I'd been to the Colosseum and forum on a previous trip, this visit was so much more meaningful and enjoyable. Marta is an encyclopedia of knowledge, and full of enthusiasm and perspective on life in ancient Rome. She was able to answer all... More

Our trip to Rome would not have been as memorable without our fantastic tour guide, Marta. We scheduled two "day trips" with her, one for a tour of the Colosseum, and the other to the Vatican. We were a group of seven, with kids aged 9, 13, and 16, and she did not disappoint. Her knowledge and charm made the... More

Did a tour with Marta to Colisseum and Forum. Of course you must buy your tickets in advance and avoid huge lineups I am slightly disabled and Marta made sure to take me on paths and elevators that o could access easier. She is so knowledgable, interesting and energetic Highly recommended. We lived our tour with her

I was thrilled to have found Marta Marsili to guide us through the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica on 26 November 2014. We traveled to Rome as an extended family of five, ranging in ages from 17 to 82. I mention this only because we walked a lot -- and I suspect you will too. Marta was... More

Staying in Ghetto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ghetto
The mini-neigbourhood Ghetto holds tight to its reputation as a stand-alone area thanks to its nearly 300-year history as the home to Rome’s Jewish community. Times changed in the 20th century, but the tiny area still retains its mix of tradition, community, and history. Ancient and medieval architectural design frames apartments, bakeries, shops, and restaurants. Friends and families are the pulse of the neighbourhood, keeping company on the Via del Portico d’Ottavia. The Ghetto observes the traditional Jewish Shabbat: businesses close from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.
