Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Entering from the entrance of Porta Marina after the steep climb on the left you can admire this ancient temple which was dedicated to Apollo. This temple held the administrative practices of the city of Pompeii plus there was the court. The statue of Apollo the archer can be seen in the center of the temple. Inevitable at the beginning of the visit of the excavations adjacent to the forum and the basilica

Sadly now largely ruined, but as well as some huge pillars, there are impressive (replica) statues of Apollo and Diana, standing where the originals, now in Naples Archaeology Museum, stood. There is also a lovely stone sundial.

An amazing monumental site which simply enhances the entire experience here. A not to be missed part of the entire experience and something that is well worth seeing.

The Temple of Apollo is located right at the entrance on the left hand side, this temple has not been preserved well apart from column here and there which is being restored, but at one time this might have been a beautiful temple where justice was administered, graffiti has been found on the walls inside of this building. There is the bronze sculptures of Apollo and Diana which are reproductions of the originals on display in the Naples National Archaeological Museum. On the other side of the Basilica is the site of the Temple of Venus, the goddess was the protector of the city, but in tandem with the fate of Pompeii, her temple was badly damaged in the earthquake of AD 62 then totally devastated by Vesuvius in AD 79.

Make sure to set time aside to visit the Temple of Apollo when you visit Pompeii. There is not a lot left of it, but it is amazing to see.

Part of the Pompeii excavations. Loves every minute of it. A true wonder of the world. Fantastically preserved, many tourists however we were always able to see everything in lots of detail without being over-crowded. If it is a hot day it is a very must to bring water as it does get exhausting after walking around so much! Very worth it though. Once in a life time experience.

Of all Pompeii temples the Temple of Apollo is the most noteworthy one. And it was closed!
P.S. a few previous reviewers claimed having been inside the temple recently but judging by the photos they provided they have not as the pictures are those of the Basilica and the Forum colonnade.

As the god Apollo is one of the most important gods in both Roman and Greek mythology, it was nice to be able to see these ruins; however, there wasn't much to see except for columns and the very small statue of Apollo.

Located on the western edge of the Forum, it was quite easy to find. There were a couple of replica statues located here amongst the columns so you could get the feel of what this was once like. Quite impressive!
