Pompeii Ruins & Mt Vesuvius Volcano Day Trip from Rome

4,446 reviews
While vacationing in Rome, spend time away from the big city without doing a ton of planning on a guided tour of Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. Hike to Mt. Vesuvius' crater (summer only) and explore Pompeii with a guide, discovering lesser-known historical info as you go, and don’t worry about entrance fees they are included.

We saw part of this Vila but much is still under restoration and limited views of some of the rooms. With the amount of visitors and cost to restore it takes time to fix what needs fixing.

Domus beautifully preserved, belonged to the Vettii brothers, two "liberti" brothers, enriched by the trade in food products. Their new condition of new rich people meant that the house was furnished in a very luxurious way in some cases even in an excessive way, given that the display of wealth was fashionable among the ancient Romans. Well kept are all the excellently preserved environments also the frescoes of the Cupids, remarkable also at the entrance the representation of Priapus with a huge penis, a figure that was of good luck for the ancient Pompeians. Unfortunately, due to the numerous restorations, not all rooms can be visited.

Another of the great sites that was closed when we visited. Annoying. No reason given. Could poke a camera through a hole to get a shot of the famous art work.

The House of the Vetti was truly fantastic. Adorned with many frescoes depicting a variety of scenes including the weighing of Priapus' own property in gold. There are a variety of other frescoes that can be seen including Hercules strangling the snakes and some rather erotic ones in the kitchen!

Some murals and ambiance in this place, it was my favorite from the tour. Never mind the phallic drawings on the wall, but it’s a good idea of how they used to live there
