A good tour guide helps you to visualize this place -- there are others in Italy in better shape. However, how would you look after centuries and a volcano?

The Temple of Venus is one of the first sites that you come to after entering Pompeii via the Porta Marina. It is now mostly ruined, so it is difficult to imagine what it would have looked like in its heyday. There is, however, an...More

This temple isn’t in as good of shape as a couple others. It’s still very cool so it probably depends on how much time you have. This is a nice site but not in the top ten for Pompeii.

so much of Pompeii is to use your imagination, in the background is the famous volcano that destroyed Pompeii and the Temple was set up would have paid respect to the landscape.

The Pompeii Scavi is vast. You can spend days exploring the city. Each building is unique and some are more preserved than others. You can enter many of the buildings and explore the gardens. It is a beautiful memorial to the great city.

Most of this is in rubbles. There were ionic column pieces adorning the area, signs that it was a huge temple.

This area is where our tour ended. Perched at the edge of the ancient city at the hilltop, not only do you have remains of columns and other marble structure to see, but it provides an amazing view back across the city.
