Wow wow wow this is a wonderful experience and i recommend it to one and all. Take water with you as you will be in there for quite a while and it can get very hot as we found out.

Long day but think you could do it. We spent only a few hours in Pompeii but was enough to get an overview and feel for that amazing place. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone who responded. We eventually left the backpack behind. There were a few people with bags but not many . Some of the school groups had backpacks but wearing them on their front.
