Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited as part of an intrepid tour for Rome to Amalfi. Our tour guide had arranged one of the Pompeii guides to talk us around the entire area and we came in here near the end. Worth a look. Like a mini coloseum. Spent only about 10 minutes here but that’s all you need.

We were amazed how they restored this amphitheater in Pompeii! It was incredible to see & walk around on the main floor of this stadium. Interesting fact that Pink Floyd played a concert few years back & it must have been amazing to attend!

The Roman amphitheater is one of the symbols of this civilization, this example found in Pompeii held quite well, besides hosting meetings between gladiators and between gladiators and animals, it also hosted a naval battle, filling the lower part of the amphitheater with water.
A fresco also recalls how the amphitheater was closed for five years following clashes between Pompeians and Nocerini. Yesterday, as today, citizens needed panem et circemses so as not to make them too interested in the problems of everyday life and politics

In Rome's amphitheatre, you are well aware that it all ended quite some centuries ago. In Pompei's amphitheatre, you think that it was operating until the mid-1980's and then lost it's funding. But the council have kept it in good nick, just in case.

With a bit of effort, you could be taunting ursine in there like it was yesterday. If you're into that sort of thing....

It is located close to another entrance, not the main gate. You should really start your tour here. Hire a local private guide!

Very well preserved Roman Amfitheatre. Oldest known example in the world! Even older than the one in Rome.

Very nice to look at and well preserved, but would like to be able to sit in the stands.

Would also like read more about the amphitheatre- that is not just Pink Floyd related.

This is one of the highlights of the trips to Pompeii and it is tremendous to think this was built more 300 years before the Colosseum in Rome. Very evocative. As a fan I also enjoyed the added benefit of the Pink Floyd exhibition

This was one of the most atmospheric of the large public buildings in Pompeii. It is not as large as Rome's Collosseum, but is substantially more complete.

I love the ability to walk in to the centreof the arena and view what it must have looked like for a gladiator all those years ago
