Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were fortunate (or clever enough...) to book an ABnB right in the middle of this area. Great location. So much life, bustle, chaos! It is, of course, touristy, but it is also clearly still a real, living neighbourhood. Naples as a whole is mad, but addictive. If we had known we would have stayed longer and explored more. Don't make our mistake.

We stayed in a hotel in the Decumani neighborhood of Naples the night before we flew home from the week of our 40th anniversary trip to Italy. It is near the University and is a very vibrant neighborhood. Our stay was on a Friday night and a lot of people we out on the narrow streets and alleys of Decumani. We found good pizza based on the recommendation of the desk clerk at our hotel. I was a little fearful of the pickpockets based on the reviews in the guidebooks, but it was not a problem in this area. You still need to be wary and careful as you walk these streets and alleys. It is a good area to soak up the history of this part of Naples.

While overrun with tourists this is a great area of Napoli worth exploring. There are 3 main streets that stretch east-west and provide easy walking routes. The churches are lined along many of the streets with museums and art peppered through the area. Take some extra care to find highly rates places to eat as it can be hard to sort through tourist type restaurants versus the ones the Neapolitans would go to.

Busy, bustling and loud was my first impression. Returned to this area on another day this time with a tour guide who brought the area to life for me. Narrow cobblestone streets with shops, markets, restaurants and apartments. Looks like its just pedestrian but watch out for cars and scooters.

The old centre is a Warren of streets with shops, food shops, churches, cafes, pizzerias all jostling for attention. Add in the lunatics on their scooters and its a unique atmosphere. Real Naples? I don't know. But fun all the same!

This place in the centro storico features in guide books and rightly so.

It is popular with both locals and tourists.

You will probably have to wait (there are chairs outside), but it is definitely worth it.

The pizzas are delicious and good value for money.

After coming here, you will agree that Naples is the place for pizza.

One of the most memorable and authentic parts of Naples.
Although run-down look will not appel to everyone, it's still makes for a great walk around its narrow streets.

A world heritage area. Lovely little streets with many restaurants and shops. Now in dire need of a clean up at first. What a disgrace to let this area be run down so much. Graffiti everywhere, streets piled up with garbage, not only collected in one place but all around. Poorly lit by night making you feel incomfortable. It may at one time have been beautiful but now you just see how much better other places take care of their heritage. Step up Naples!

I totally loved the narrow street of old town! Full of life, scooters, tiny shops selling delicious food, vegetables, buckets, washing powders and whatnot. Small restaurants spread out to the streets people eating on the wobbling tables among the traffic. My home town feels so dead after this experience.
