An impressive building

Hidden away in Naples. Up close it's spoiled by graffiti but stand back to see the full splendour of this magnificent building

Naples is simply wonderful. There isn't any city around the World it can be compared to. The historical centre is a huge open museum. Every step you take there is something which attract your eyes, and your senses. Don't care about the bad things said about Naples. The truth is that Naples is big city with the same problems which... More

This public large square dates back to the 19th century known as Piazza del Plebiscito. In 1863 the referendum led to Naples joining Unified Italy. The semi-circular piazza is the site of one of four Royal Palaces in Naples and the San Francisco di Paola Church. The church facade was designed to resemble the Roman Pantheon and has a long... Naples' centro storico (historic center) is a "must" for anyone who visits Italy. The terracotta figurines of nativity scenes and modern politicians and celebrities are still made by traditional artisans. You can visit Naples Sotterranea, the Naples Underground, and see the ancient Roman aqueducts and toys left by families, who used the underground as a shelter to escape from air-raids during... More

Take time to wander the streets and come across gems rather than seek things out. This way you will enjoy the true feel of this wonderful and interesting city.

I think this is a wonderful city. On the outside, it looks grubby and uncared for but the minute you step through one of the many monument doors you are in a different world: one filled with the most amazing architecture/ art/ creations/ stories and people. We spent 5 days just wandering around the place and discovering them. Love it!

A very good place to feel the spirit of Naples, all around old buildings, the palace of the king and a good view to the hills. Just enter the church - it is breathtaking.

Naples is dirty, noisy and very, very busy. However, as two pensioners we did not feel threatened, even when out at night. That said, we left wallet and credit cards in the hotel safe and only took out a minimum of money. The narrow streets and lanes of the Old Town are lovely to stroll through, but at all times...
