    Authentic fishing harbour with restaurants
Visited here twice in the evening on our recent 11 day holiday to Sorrento. Ate dinner here both times, Porta Marina seafood was an excellent restaurant that we would definitely recommend. The harbour is lined with authentic fish restaurants overlooking the fishing boats on the sea, there's a small volcanic sand beach, a couple of posher looking restaurants on jetties sticking out in the sea, then there's Vesuvius across the bay. It's a very picturesque place to watch the sunset over the sea on a clear evening, we were lucky to see a magnificent sunset from the wide steps leading back up to town, with kayakers sailing on the water, magical ❤️.

    Beach, water sports
This area has a small beach, several beach clubs with chair and umbrella rentals. There are several places where you can rent equipment for water sports activities. There are also excellent restaurants here.

"We love visiting this Marina on each visit to Sorrento!!"
My husband & I were on vacation to Sorrento to celebrate my birthday and on each visit we like to leisurely stroll down to Marina Grande. On this visit we got to visit the church along the walk way...Chiesa di Sant'Anna. There are a lot of shops, restaurants with inside and outside dining options and fishing going on at this Marina. It is also a site to behold at the various hotels along the hillside with paths leading up to them from the Marina. There are also great views during the day and especially in evening when dining of across the bay of Mt. Vesuvius. It is always an easy stroll down to the Marina but take your time to climb your way back up to the main center of Sorrento. Be careful on this walk, since areas are uneven and lots of different pavements and winding corners.

    A wonderful scenic area
There are a multitude of avenues to explore her. It is awash with highly regarded restaurants, both high end and local favourites. The views are incredible and worth the effort as there are lots of steps to negotiate on the journey. There is a steep incline to work through on the return leg so comfy shoes are recommended. We dined in Soul & Fish (see seperate review) and I highly recommend it. Evening time is the best time to visit, I would suggest timing your visit with the setting of the sun, spectacular!!

    The best part of Sorrento
People on here are still getting their marinas in a twist! This is not the port from where the ferries depart, it's at the other end of town. It's a pleasant walk from Sorrento centre through narrow streets with views across the bay here and there, down a fairly steep slope and into the marina itself. There is a bus service to and from Piazza Tasso if you don't fancy the walk. There are several bars and resturants (our favourite being Portamarina), a couple of shops, several bagni and a small public beach which is free to use, you only pay for sunbeds/chairs and parasols. It's a genuine fishing port and you can see the catch being landed each evening. There are also several places offering paddleboarding, diving and boat trips. It's our favourite part of the town and we strongly recommend that you don't miss it.

    Great views and food
It is called Marina Grande, but is actually quite small. I came here mostly in the evening since there are a few seafood restaurants. The ones we tried were excellent. The views are also quite nice. Definitely worth stopping by here.

Picturesque view over the Grande Marina
It’s a very small stretch of beach with boats bobbing up and down it it. It’s very picturesque and we loved sitting outside at one of the local restaurants drinking a limoncello spritz and a beer for my husband. The sun was shining and you can while away the time with this beautiful view. It was one of my favourite things to do.

    Very authentic. Worth a walk.
We went down to the old fishing village (“Marina Grande”) which is about a 10 min walk from Sorrento township. It was terrific. We watched the locals setting up their fishing nets / bustling around their shops / generally preparing for the day. Very authentic.

    Marina Grande Sorrento Italy
My granddaughter and I wanted to eat lunch at a restaurant where Sophia Loren had eaten so we walked from Piazza Tasso Square to Marina Grande. The walk was through quiet streets and then down a paved path. We ate at Trattoria Da Emilia at the marina. The walk back was more challenging but it was worth every step.

A great place to visit and to have a drink around. Lots of options of places to eat and drink. Beach clubs are available but be careful as shade can hit some early afternoon.
Finally be prepared for steps - there is a lot to go back up!!!

This is a harbour cum beach and a fishing village downhill from Sorrento town. A good place for a leisurely stroll along the sea. You can get beautiful views of the harbour by a climb up the old stone staircase which after a walk through some beautiful shops and souvenir street connects to the town center Piazza Tasso. The beach itself has a number of authentic italian cafes and restaurents
