The Corso Italia is one of Sorrento’s main streets. Commencing almost at the western edge of Sorrento it runs west to east through the entire town. It passes through the Piazza Tosso the more or less centre of the town continuing east through Sorrento and the neighbouring municipalities of Sant'Agnello Piano di Sorrento and Meta. Past Meta it eventually merges with the main highway north to Pompeii and Naples.

Within Sorrento itself, the Corso Italia is major shopping area which attracts hundreds of tourists and locals alike. East of the Piazza are numerous shops, restaurants, cafes and bakeries as well as banks and more than a few hotels. The street more or less parallels the railway line and it becomes more residential and less commercial in nature as it enters into adjoining Sant’ Agnello.

Going westward from the Piazza it traverses the more touristic part of Sorrento with access to even more shopping. North of the street are numerous smaller streets and alleys literally full of shops specializing in lacework, limoncello and fine leather goods.

Piazza Tosso is not the only plaza on the street, East of it is the tree lines Piazza Angelina Lauro with its fountain, a great place to sit, relax enjoy a cappuccino or gelato and people watch. Going west one finds the Piazza Andrea Viniero and the Parco di Villa Fiorentino.

Arrived from Naples by circumvesuviana (about 1 hour), we arrived in Sorrento and with a very short walk on the avenue, here we are in the city center. What about .. just gorgeous. Full of alleys, shops, restaurants, bars, craftsmen .. and then you get to a terrace overlooking the sea with a view of the marina and you all the coast. Breathtaking!! Not to be missed

We meandered down this street from the Piazza Tasso for about 1/2 km towards Piazza Veniero. It is mostly a pedestrian street flanked on both sides with shops and restaurants. Lots of foot traffic and friendly shopkeepers. We stopped for lunch at The Garden, a very good pizza restaurant.

The only time we saw this street quiet was when we walked down to the Marina for a trip just after 8am. It’s always busy, especially when cruise ships are in. There are many nice shops to browse, plenty of bars, restaurants, souvenir shops and churches. At our visit it was decorated with banners of Napoli’s winning football team for the Serie A league. Banners are overhead all the way from Sant’Angello to to the end of the corso. Little side streets lead to parallel streets with more restaurants, souvenir shops and churches.
Great for gelato and people watching too!

Visited in late january. This is a pedestrian shopping area. There is nothing especially exciting about this shopping area. Visiting over 2 days I walked up the street about six times. Christmas decorations this time of year are a bit annoying. The music loop playing over the pa is a mix of 1980s synth pop and Christmas carols.

Great location near the main piazza in Sorrento. We had a comfortable room for 4 with a helpful staff that answered several questions at the front desk.

Many restaurants & shopping opportunities near the hotel.

Inloved with Sorrento. Beautiful place, safe, easy to walk, many places to visit, nice restaurants, excellent food, and testy Gelato, many stores for people who wants to buy things,no to expensive very quiet compared with Amalfi Coast. Very beautiful Harbor. Last but not least the best place to stay to visit Amalfy Coast, also Pompeii and more. I look forward to come back for 1 month.

Such a lovely relaxing town, beautiful shops, bars and restaurants and so clean and tranquil. Sadly only had a few hours here and will definitely come back for a longer experience. Our trip from the port offered wonderful views.

Nice to see the Main Street from piazza Tasso down to the hospital pedestrianised. Be aware that there are many more shops running parallel with this street in what is called the drains. Shops on the high street tend to be more designer, and pricey. Get into the drains and head down to the lookout for a great view of the bay of Naples. As a footnote there's a few con artists who sit on the pavements with a sad face and a child sprawled on their lap pretending to be ill. IGNORE THEM. saw the lady's partner delivering the kid in a pushchair who was happy and laughing, then after the given word was told to play dead. It was like a lassie film. Do not be fooled by these people and don't give them any money. Spend it in the shops for people who work for money.

A must visit while in Sorrento, and repeat visits are OK. We spent a lot of time there shopping, eating, and people watching. Lots of traffic though, so be careful.
