Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In June we set ourselves the goal of training in Amalfi for climbing and long hiking trails before a long trip through Siberia. This route was one of the first, so to speak, to warm up. It does not take much time, suitable even for beginners. There are many interesting abandoned buildings along the way, which I really like to explore.

Took us less than an hour to get to the surprise waterfall at the end. Quiet journey, saw a few of the old mills on the way which have since been reclaimed by nature.

This was a beautiful short out and back hike. From the Piazza in Amalfi and back it took us over an hour. We were in no hurry and stopped to enjoy some lemon cookies and strawberries that we’d purchased from local shops, at the picnic tables.

A steady climb from the top of the Amalfi High Street takes you up many steps to the old paper mills. There is an agriturismo cafe on the way. The track takes you up to Pontone, a village with a bar and restaurants and stunning views over Ravello and Amalfi. You can extend your walk to Ravello and back to Amalfi via Atrani. If you are not used to strenuous walking take some walking poles and refreshments and water. The water in the water fountains in this area of Italy has always been kind to us

This walk was quite interesting, walking right out of Amalfi into the lemon groves and seeing the remains of old mills.

This is the valley of the old mills in Amalfi and gives you walk up or down the valley at the side of streams and waterfalls and the ruins of the paper mills. Bit slippy in places if it has been raining but otherwise very beautiful. Good way to get away from the crowd in town but not as empty as the Valle della Ferriere walk. Highly recommend.

Really great hike, not too intense, but nice and secluded. We took our time and enjoyed the sites, and not sure if we were lucky but we were the only people on the trail.

I felt on top of the world after my walk up through the Valle die Mulini! I intentionally left the bustle of Amalfi behind rapidly and walked to the top of the town, where opposite the Paper Museum is the start out of the walk. For a fair while it was steps and surfaced pathways, but you don't notice because you simply can't take your eyes off of the views up the valley which are emerging. When you leave surfaced pathways you are on a trail alongside a bubbling river and you more or less alternate from one fascinating Mill ruins to a beautiful waterfall and then the next mill and so on. 4 or 5 Mills in you come to a mill with a huge archway and beyond it a gorgeous waterfall where I sat and had lunch in the breeze of the plunge pool. In all this way since I'd left Amalfi I may have seen a dozen people. In the town below there are thousands & I think they are missing a trick. At this stage I left the Valle dei Mulini, branching off to the side of the valley and a climb to the beautiful town of Pontone (so I can't comment on the undoubted beauty of the upper valley). The trip up to Pontone offers Vista's of stunning beauty and The chance to visit Torre del Zirro (or similar!) Ruins before a hellish 950+ steps back down into Amalfi. I'm quite fit, but my legs ached for a couple days! Do not attempt to go UP those steps!!!

Wonderful and well-marked trail behind the town of Amalfi. Lemon groves, old paper mills, a babbling stream with some waterfalls. A nice getaway and something different than going to town or the waterfront. Hiking gear not required although definitely recommend tennis shoes. Additionally the hike is as long as you want to make it. We did two hours up and it took us less to get back. The only reason we stopped was because the national park part of it was closed. There were two officials at the entrance (just a rudimentary gate) and they weren't letting anyone in. We were disappointed as there were no postings to this affect anywhere. Consequently we missed a big waterfall and obviously more hiking. Additionally there were many side trails but being as it was our first time we stuck to the main trail. It was a great experience and definitely worthwhile if you are in Amalfi.

Valle dei Mulini was recommended to me as the best pizzas on the Amalfi Coast and they didn’t disappoint. Highly recommended if you’re staying in Positano.
