I read much on how scary this road can be but my experience was quite the opposite. Yes the road is narrow; yes the road is busy but you have to experience this as part of the bigger picture. It is fun to see how...More

Although we hired a car we only used it to travel to/from the airport. The road is very narrow and if you meet a bus you will be forced to back up! The whole road has scratches and dents in the walls and barriers! Used...More

We took the SITA bus from Salerno down to Amalfi on the Coast road. Magnificent views from the bus and very entertaining as the skillful bus driver goes through the small narrow winding roads, its an amazing experience!

The Amalfi coastal road is amazing. It is probably one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world. Very narrow, but it should not be a problem if you are an experienced driver.

We hired a private car to drive us along the coast from Sorrento to Ravello and back, an 8-hour drive that is offered by any number of local tour companies in the area. We did this trip in early May and visited Positano, Amalfi and...More

We drove by this road from Sorrento to Salerno. We also wanted to make a stop in Positano, but there was no free parking available, so we just made some stops on the road to take photos of the lovely Positano. I would not agree...More

The coast road has spectacular views but driving the road is not a pleasant experience. It is windy & narrow. When you meet a bus travelling in the other direction, at one of the road's narrow turns, there are all sorts of maneuvers required to...More

Driving is ok but it is very twisty and with coaches and cars parked it can be challenging. We used a driver as it wasn't too expensive and he knew where to take us for the views etc
