In Italy you could travel from south to north, or from the sea to the mountain, you will find always her majesty the Nature. This is the enchanting 'Parco Nazionale della Majella' in the marvelous region of Abruzzo.

Incredible National Park
Jul. 2018 • Couples
There are so many different areas to visit. You can go hiking in the forest or to see old monastery. There are beautiful waterfalls you can swim in (icy cold water so, but nice after long hike). Highly recommend to visit and there are plenty of photo opportunities.

Beauty that hurts
Sep. 2015 • Couples
This national park is indescribable, whatever I say will be not enough, not even close to what you can feel here. We are coming here from time to time and it's always a mystery, an adventure, silence and solitude, and breathtaking wild beauty...

Wild in the mountains
Jul. 2013 • Couples
The Orfento Valley and the upland meadows of the Majella are the most beautiful and biodiverse spots I've encountered in Europe, apart from, say, Slovenia, a handful of Greek beaches, a sprinkling of islands, the Alps, the Dolomites and a few other relatively undeveloped jewels. This is limestone karst (like Slovenia and Italy's Gargano spur) sporting a profusion of wildflowers (wild dianthus, umbellifers, scabious, lilies, orchids, colt's foot, vetch and much, much more at every turn) and butterflies in their hundreds. The clear, ice-cold Orfento, frequently shooting down precipitous falls; the high meadows where transhumance is still practised when the flocks are disease-free; the stupendous mountains; vast skies...this is a miraculously preserved eden. We were lucky enough to spot a pair of golden eagles, a Mediterranean fox, wild boar and rare salamanders on our hikes and drives.

Note that to walk in the Orfento valley, you must sign in with the rangers at Caramanico Terme's Majella National Park centre.

grotte del cavallone, a 1 day's adventure
Sep. 2011 • Friends
Less than an hour's drive from the beautiful town of Lanciano in the province of Chieti in the region of Abruzzo , atop the southeastern side of the Maiella peak, you will reach the Caves of Cavallone situated at a height of nearly 1200 metres, about 4 thousand feet, can be reached with a lift of 20 minutes(2 persons upright in an open cabin)
from the bottom of the valley to the top, a stunningly awesome canyon reveals a majestic ,breathtaking view..Upon arrival, if needed, a quick stop over at a local lodge and then a short but steep walk on stones carved on the slope of the mountain.
the Cave 's entrance is huge and a guide will assist you for a small fee(dress for it!it's very cool)both meanings apply
Now i must stop or else i'll tell you too much, the rest is for you to discover, but rest assured, you will remember this 1 day advanture forever.
for more info, i will be glad to help you. polidoricarlo@live.it
