After all these years the fortress is sill live and kicking. It is a very good spot for a walk in historic surroundings. Basically surrounds most of the old city.

The walls go around some of the city and from the top you can see the old and the new town. There is a bar where you can sit and have a drink in the sunshine over looking the city. It's well worth a meander...More

Nice places both fortress and the walls. There are free (I visited on sunday, so probably paid entrence on other days) exhibitions in the fortress buildings.

We walked along the walls, took in the view points then wandered down below among the walls and ramparts. We tried to get into the one large bastion but it was not open on either attempt. Steeped in history it leaves much to the imagination

The night we were enjoying the walls there were dancers doing some beautiful performances which were done by the public. Loved the fun atmosphere, the history and the view over the walls. Truly stunning area to walk.

We walked around these walls and they are huge when seen from the bottom. They are quite intact and give a good picture of life back then. There are some great views as well.

Hi, I would recommend that you spend a couple of days driving around La Rioja and don't miss the many wineyards around that area, especially The Marques de Riscal in Elciego. Also, I would definitively recommend that from... More
