About
The Panoramic Lift will take you in a comfortable and fast way up to the highest point of the Concepcion Hill. Its 45 meters save the existing height between Gisbert Street and the top of the hill where the Torres Park and the Concepcion Castle await you with the best views of the city and its bay. Being located on the slopes of the hill where the galleries of the old shelters are located, the base of the Elevator serves as an entrance to the Museum-Refuge of the Civil War. Thanks to the panoramic glass cabin, you can enjoy the fantastic views of some of the most emblematic buildings of the city such as the remains of the Roman amphitheatre with the superimposed Bullring or the military constructions of the 18th century, the Autopsy Pavilion, the Marina Hospital and the Antiguones Barracks. Opened to the public in 2004, the Panoramic Lift has become over the years, with its modern design, distinctive image and of reference point of the city of Cartagena.

The lift is perfunctory, but the 360 views at the top are the delight. You have to walk around the top of the fort, but it's easy walking and the whole city sprawls before you. Afterwards, you can walk back down to town and you're afforded a great tour of restaurants and shops along the way. It's a great walk...down, because you took the lift up!

We were on a cruise ship which docked at Cartagena for one day. We hadn't been there before and were pleasantly surprised. The harbour area was lovely and it was only a short walk into the town. We loved how the old blended with the new and how spotlessly clean everywhere was. We enjoyed looking around the shops and sitting on the pavement outside one of the many little cafes to have a cup of coffee. We enjoyed visiting the Roman ruins and the view from the view point to the port and surrounding area was stunning. The City also boasts a stunning cathedral.

Our car was parked close to the elevator, after walking the town and having seen the amphitheater we thought to climb the stairs down to end up at the car. There is no way to do so.

This provides an amazing view of the city, including some of the Roman discoveries. It is very economical.

You get on at street level. Not far from the Punic wall museum.
It is 1euro. As you go up you do not see much as it is enclosed. However, when you get off the elevator....warning the wind is strong. It blasts ..... the walkway is narrow. However if you dare...walk to the side facing a Roman Theatre that is kept standing by the use of steel beams. I would have taken a picture but an older lady was screaming that she wanted to 'get down from here. NOW'. You can see the hills , the port, etc. the window are cut into slits so you have to maneuver carefully. I thought it was a kick. You can look down as you walk to the entrance within the Castle city. It was worth the price for me. Expect hairspray not to keep your hair in place.

The lift is clear glass and takes you to the top of the park and castle area. It made me feel a bit 'icky' as I don't really like heights but it's better than walking up the hill! Just look straight ahead and you should be ok. There is a good view of the bullring ruins from this side of the park and as you move round to the other side there's a great view of the port area and Roman amphitheater. I would definitely recommend getting the lift up and walking down

We bought the ride up as part of a 4 exhibit pass. Unfortunately, the line was long when we arrived and a tour group was able to skip the line, making us wait even longer. There's only room for 8-9 in the elevator, making it quite inefficient when there's crowds. The lady running the ticket booth said she had no control over the tour guide's insistence that her group be allowed to enter before us, nor were there any signs saying this may happen. The views from the top were good, as was the quick visit to the castle. On the way down, we did not need to wait, but the line to go up was very long. Go early would be my advice.

This grey monstrosity is only useful if you can't or don't want to walk to the castle by an alternative route. The panoramic view is from the park and castle not the lift. If you are going to the Civil war museum you need to press floor 1 in the lift, floor 2 is the top.

Whew, glad we didn't have to walk up--always better to ride, especially in the heat! Quick, clean lift to top of Conception Hill where you can get great panoramic views of the city and harbor below along with several Roman ruins as well. Worth the price and then some!

As people before have said, it's possible to walk but this makes the journey quicker. Once at the top there are fantastic views over the town of Cartagena and the harbour. Look out for the peacocks at the top.
Access to the castle is also available for a further cost.
