Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a little known deal, but a terrific budget tip. When you walk in the Palacio, there is a rope blocking the entrance and guards. You are welcome to go in, you just have to have your bag checked. To the left is a little table with a sign that indicates the next tour time. In days there is a cruise ship in port, most of the tours are in English. The tour cost 1E per person and is well worth it.

Our tour guide, Valeri, guided us through the building and gave us interesting stories about the building and the government entities that call it home. She also generously took pictures of anyone who wanted their picture taken in counsel chamber or on the grand staircase.

The Palacio is an easy walk from the port and one of the first things you come to on the left as you walk from the port up Calle Mayor.

You can't miss this beautiful building but it's not obvious that there are guided tours inside - unfortunately only in Spanish - but as you are viewing the amazing Council Chamber, secretary's office and Cabinet/Committee Room it's not important. The tour costs only 1 euro and lasts 45 minutes but if you can't afford that just go inside to see the magnificent staircase. Tours are hourly from 10.30am.

Take a FREE (sorry a €1..) look inside some history and memoravle building of this renown city CARTAGENA.
A guide takes the time to lead - aprox. every hour- a group of touristsaround ina beautifull, well conserved City hall. Impressionant stearways, marmer and wooden floors and wall-decoration. Antiques and handcrafted periodic tapestry etc..
Takes you about 35min.

Great area, superb architecture! The sidewalk outside is amazing - so smooth. Nice little area for sight seeing. We didn't go inside the building but rested outside of it to enjoy the area and do some people watching.

It deserves a walk around, the three facades are amazing, full of details. There is a 1 euro tour also in English. It is really interesting and the staff is welcoming and let us time to took pictures. They also told about anecdotes of the construction of the building and goverment people that used it

We had a fantastic tour for only one euro with the lovely guide (didn't get her name!)
She was very knowledgeable and the interior of the hall was beautiful. She gave a good amount of information about the history of the building and the city. The best value tour anywhere in the world! A lovely 20 minute visit and she even took our photos on the impressive steps at the end of the tour! Would highly recommend.

City hall exterior and later, on tour, the interior. Meeting room and mayors office. Costs 1 Euro for a tour of City Hall. My wife and I were the only ones for the 1045 tour today and we got the royal tour with our picture taken upon completion of the tour. Saw the meeting room for council and the public and the mayor’s office. Lady explained a lot about the workings of the city and the local government. 20 minute tour was very informative. Lady also suggested we try Café Asiatico a local drink with sweetened
condensed milk, two kinds of liquor and coffee. We did try it and it was excellent.

We viewed the exterior of the Palacio Consistorial on our way along the Calle Mayor on our recent visit to Cartagena, but unfortunately did not have time to take a tour of the interior. If the inside is as ornate as the exterior, then it will be well worth visiting!

We were told to call here as soon as we arrived in Cartagena and establish what time there was an English speaking guided tour of the building, which is or was the Old Town Hall here in the city. We had time for a coffee nearby before taking the tour.
The tour was given by a very nice Spanish lady in both Spanish and English and was very interesting and informative, the actual inside of the building rooms we were given access to were very impressive and ornate, our group of about ten people all seemed to enjoy the tour which cost 1 Euro per person and it was well worth it.
I personally liked the main staircase, which I believe is called the "Imperial" staircase and the large model of the building which is on the balcony at the top of the stairs.
If you are in the city, then make a point of visiting this building, it is well worth the effort.

Well worth a stroll by (Roman Theater Museum is just across the street. Near the harbor/cruise terminal and just off the Calle Major so convenient if you are cruising. Pretty impressive architecture too, if you appreciate that style
