The castle offers a panoramic view of the port area. It's not the best preserved castle we've seen but still offers a historical perspective as to the defense it provided overlooking the harbor. Entrance is thru the museum and Is worth the 6 Euros P.P. charged.

We are in town with the Celebrity Reflection. Spent the whole day bouncing between historical attractions and tapas joints. This castle is a little light on things to see inside but well well worth the view of the entire city from the top. There is also a great spot to do a selfie with the ship and port in the... More

We did not go in but if you are looking for a place with great views and some wildlife too, visit here. The peacocks were friendly and were eating out of our drivers hands. We hired a cabdriver to take us around and it worked out perfectly.

Inside the castle there are some nice exhibits and a lot of the information is on dvd etc that is sub-titled... More

Great summary of the history of Cartagena. (We recommend buying the combined ticket if you plan to visit a number of the sites in the old city.) The information is provided in different formats so you don't get bored - also the written detail is pocket-sized so you are happy to read it all! The views from the castle are... More

There is a small park surrounding the keep with views around the city and boards pointing out interesting buildings, there are a few peacocks roaming around as well. You have to pay to enter the keep but within it are displays and video showing its history and the various cultures that have fought over it through the centuries. Away from... More
