A little bar with best Sangria drink and canapés. We try sardines with tomato and salmon. Everything with great prices. As a bonus we got a soup Salmorejo. Really tasty.

I visited because of the Trip Advisor reviews. I'm not a wine person but I do enjoy white wine on occasion and I do know what tastes good to me. The night I visited they had three white wines on the menu. I chose Torre de Ermelo-Albariño and it was very good. I also had the jamon del pato and... More

We enjoyed our tapas dinner with a bottle of Godello, a local grape varietal from northwestern Spain. We felt we were in a local neighborhood bar frequented by locals with lots of personal touch and care. The food and drinks were great.

Great location and decor, always a fun crowd, tasty generous and original tapas, interesting quirky wines at very fair prices. Superb.

As usual Vinicola Mentridana never makes me down. I did spend lovely night with good music and excellent wines. The atmosphere was so great that I couldn't leave till closing time. Very beatiful empanadas and jamon make you crazy.

This wine bar is a lovely, civilised place for a drink and a snack. We bought a bottle of the wine of the month 'vino del mes ' for 10.50 euros and it was excellent. Not only that, but what came free with it was a large bowl of hummus and half a crusty loaf. Service is good-humoured and efficient... More

After getting back home from Holidays, my girlfriend and I agreed that this welcoming place was surely one of the highlights of our trip. In the heart of Madrid, caring staff serves excellent and wide selection of local wines with tapas. Also cocktails are very good (Long Island for me). Atmosphere is very friendly as we finished the evening with... More

Staying in Lavapies

Neighbourhood Profile
Lavapies
Walking into this neighbourhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighbourhood.
