I suspect La latina is on the verge of gentrification. The area has a lot of character and a real bohemia feel to it. Some great eateries and cheap bars and cafes. Drink vermouth of a late afternoon after work with the bright young things...More

There is nothing that I like more, when in Madrid, then to sit outside one of the many bars in the Latina district. Buzzing, friendly and a very attractive part of town. My favourite? Plaza del Humilladero.

I confess. I am a flea market junkie! I get sucked in every single time. Unfortunately, so many markets have been watered-down with same old, tired merchandise (sink stoppers, toilet bushes and underwear in bulk), but this Market is the best ever. It is only...More

Our tour book suggested La Latina as a great neighborhood for tapas bars and restaurants and they nailed it! The area of Calle Cava Baja and surrounding side streets is a charming area of narrow streets and great eating establishments. The area is bustling in...More

I was fortunate to be in Madrid during the Paloma street festival. During the day, there is a kind of street fair with vendors, pop up tapas bars and music. At night, the streets become crowded with partiers going from bar to bar. If possible,...More

La Latina is a charming neighbourhood with two unique
personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly
old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among
charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like
yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is
characterized by a young population and a bohemian
vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection
of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other

The street is lined with restaurants. They range from fancy to casual. They all serve different types of tapas so it literally is your choice. They all seemed pretty good.
