If you go to Madrid you must try the "Palmeras" ("con chocolate" if you like chocolate): they are the best in Madrid. The rest of the products are also great, but I recommend takeaway, as the place is too small for enjoying a coffee.

Forget your boring chains & opt for a café with style & originality. I paid 1.40euros for a lovely café con leche & they had a great selection of cakes. Good value for the normal type or they have the 'works of art' type. It's...More

I went there on the morning to buy croissants and bread for the breakfast. It is a very beautiful place with a classic tea-house design. When I got in I saw the food (croissant, bread, napolitains...); It had a good presesntation but nothing out of...More

I met with a friend for a quick breakfast and there is something between the simplicity of food and the decoration of the place that it kind of gets you and makes you want to stay longer. Go for the food, go for the coffee...More

Seemed to be roaming around old haunts this time. La Duquesita still turns out some of the best pastries in Madrid. Much, much better than those at the chain places. Try anything with fruit in it

This bakery was so quaint and beautiful. It looks like something from the 1930's just like in the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel. Everything looked and smelled beautiful. We tried some of the many cookies and each and everyone was delicious. Exceptional croissants extra toasted...More

The places is tiny, there are very few tables and it is self service, but the pastries and the cakes are to die for, especially the rosquillas and the chocolate textures. Tea is hot and served to perfection, as is the coffee. We took one...More

When the old Duquesita closed I was afraid they will rip out all the nice old interior and make something new ad modern...but no...they kept the interior, adapted it and improved it and opened this amazing pastry shop. The chocolate cake is just amazing and...More

Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where
many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where
the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and
people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main
thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is
Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables
serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture
of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses
