We have visited just about every opera house of any renown all over the world, but the best experience we ever had was in Madrid. The opera house is in a perfect location directly across from the Royal Palace and next to a beautiful park. The building itself could not be nicer looking and it looked as if it was recently refurbished and indeed was state of the art inside and out. The production that we saw was The Marriage of Figaro which was the best we have ever seen. The lighting, scenery, costumes, music and singing were first class. It was truly a thrilling experience not to missed by anyone going to Madrid whether you like opera or not! We had a wonderful walk back to our hotel through the mostly pedestrian streets of that area; no cars, no noise no crowds, walking on the wide streets of this exciting city. We felt lucky to be alive!!!
