An amazing place in Madrid

It's an incredible place to visit. The architecture design makes you feel the soul of this city. Absolutely beautiful view from the top floor.

Walking by the Cibeles Palace, you'll stop the fountain and the Square. Lovely sightseeing spot. I recommend to keep going straight, you'll walk by the Prado Museum (which is one of the best to visit in the city) and go into El Retiro, one of the biggest park I've even been.

Lots of pictures and images have this statute and location on them. It was a nice sight but it was very busy because its right in the heart of town.

The Plaza de Cibeles is an open space in a roundabout, with traffic, you can easily see it while travelling on the bus. The roundabout has a big statue and a fountain in the centre, very nice to see.

Mayor's office in plaza de cibelles. Nice restaurant with view. Tourist officials are helpful. Security to get in so no drinks can be brought in

Each time I arrive Madrid I wish to see this marvellous fountain and plaza. It is a landmark not worse than Plaza Mayor or Royal Castle.

The Plaza de Cibeles is an open space in a roundabout, with traffic that keeps obscuring a great picture of the statue and the fountain in the centre of the Plaza, certainly impressive.

Madrid is a majestic city and this is one of the top examples. To me this is the heart of the city instead of somewhat unattractive Sol.

From some of my other reviews you can see a theme. This is where Real Madrid end their open top bus tour after winning titles. You can get close, but the view from the side of the roundabout this statue is good enough if you don't want to risk it. Looks better at night, with a stunning backdrop and very... More

The Plaza de Cibeles is a large open space that is dominated by traffic. The statue and fountain in the centre of the Plaza is certainly impressive but the noise and speed of the traffic detracts from it.

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
