Okay, here is the deal. If you are staying in Madrid and looking to visit Segovia, you should use the high speed Renfe (AVE). Some helpful hints: 1. You must take the Madrid Chamartin Station to visit Segovia. We were staying in the Prado Museum area and used the Metro (subway). You take the Atocha metro to Chamartin. The price... More

We arrived for our trip to Segovia and showed our electronic tickets as we had done previously and we're rejected from the line. We needed paper tickets. We were informed of the general direction we needed to head and we raced to where these could be obtained. The office was well hidden for further torment. The office people were delightful... More

Good that I was able to step out of the hotel and across teh road to be here. I love that it has a waterfall. It kind of calms you down after a long hard day.

We took a cab to Chamartin Station our last morning in Madrid to catch an early train to San Sebastian. I'd been here before years ago. The station is very easy to use: there are 2 large boards in the center of the station displaying departures and arrivals, Underneath the boards are the ticket and information offices. There is also... More

Taking the Avant Renfe high-speed train to Segovia. Coming out of the light-train, it was not intuitive to find where we had to go for our train. Free WC (but at the other end of the station) and free wifi.

Chamartin is a large train station with reasonably good directional signs throughout. It has many shops and places to eat, which are convenient for travelers. They don't have enough seating space, however, which makes it uncomfortable for travelers. It is functional, but not worth a visit if you're not travelling.

Kind of magical place. The firs step to travel abroad from Portugal. Train travellers will stop here anda open arms to the majestic arquitecture and engineering.

The Cercanias system has one glaring flaw: although the schedules are quite specific as to when and where trains will arrive and depart, the trains themselves are not labeled according to the line they serve. Since many of the lines follow the same tracks for much of their route, this in and of itself is not usually catastrophic. If you... More

Very well maintained station of madrid. You can take cercanias (semi urban) train and all super fast trains from downstair. If you want to take metro go to right side exit and go underground. The 4 tall buildings just outside chamartin is beautiful during sunset.

We were in a rush to catch our train to Segovia because the metro broke down. Leaving the metro, there are no signs that tell you where the station is, although it is easy enough to find. Once in the station, the monitors only list the LAST STOP of the train, which, if you buy your ticket online, will not... More
