You can walk, stop at one of the many eating and drinking places and see all manner of wildlife. Simply a beautiful place!

Have lunch or an ice cream -- and rent one of the rowboats -- what a nice way to put a pause in the day.

Enjoyed a few hours in this large green space. The crystal palace is pretty and the children loved watching the terrapins in the lake outside it. Found a playground too. It is a huge park though and so be prepared for a bit of a...More

Definitely worth a visit. Lovely lake and fountains scattered around. If you like Pokemon Go I was told there are lots of Poke stops too!

Great park! You can definitly spend half a day there just walking. Even in hot weather you'll be good in the shades and there is planty of shades because of the trees. Just spend the time and visit this great "central park" of Madrid!

I visit this park several times a year and am never bored. The gardens and colors change frequently, the museums (free!) are quirky and never fail to amuse. Fall and Spring are the best times to visit to see the flowers and leaves and to...More

There is so much on offers in Retiro Park, for all ages. The boating lake is beautiful and the surrounding buildings are very impressive. I stopped here for a coffee and watched the boats going around the lake, it was peaceful and cool in the...More

Relaxed afternoon among the trees and green grass, lots of space and not too many people. Lots of privacy to chat, work on your phone or just lay in a hammock. Will be coming back.

Retiro is a beautiful park close to the city centre which is clearly enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. People running and cycling; families enjoying the boats on the pond; Madrilenos walking their dogs; musicians entertaining the crowds (although there is lots of room for...More

I also didn't see a train on a walk through the park, but again might be in a bit of the park I didn't see.

The park is mainly a "treed" park as opposed to it's neighbour, the Royal Botanical Gardens. You can find the ubiquitous Cypress tree (its leaves and branches lend themselves well to being sculpted), the plane tree, which... More
