This is the busiest street of Madrid. The famous statue of the bear and the strawberry tree is the symbol of Madrid. The translation is gate of the sun.

The area was really crowded when we visited; full of tourists but we noticed there to be a police presence. Lots of shops and bars to explore and I was able to do a bit of souvenir shopping whist there. It's a good central part...More

This is like the heart of Spain and Madrid. From here you can get to the Plaza Mayor (across the street practically) and the walking street that will take you to the Royal Palace. Stop by to get Chocolate and Churros on the way at...More

A very loud precinct. Even with double glazing you could still here it from inside. Lots of shops and eateries to choose from. The metro is right here and every second car seems to be a taxi. Easy to get to and worth a visit.

Good central spot at the to of all the shopping streets. Not far from Playa Mayor. One of the oldest squares in Madrid. Plenty to see and do for retail therapy needs!

A great crowd of people. Many groups of young people who have fun. Singing, dancing, laughing, taking pictures. Very nice.

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street
performers, colorful lights, window shopping,
restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and
churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a
collection of plazas interconnected by a network of
side streets. Some of these side streets are wide
pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so
it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as

What is the name of the hotel? I was thinking of another hotel in a different city when I responded. Puerta del Sol is a plaza in Madrid.
