When traveling in Spain last year Sep 2019, we were looking for a customized, private wine experience that was unique. We considered Rioja and Ribeira del Duero, but instead chose a private tour of the Priorat wine region while we were in Barcelona.

We couldn't have been happier with our choice.

Our guide (and driver) Feliciano picked us up at our hotel.
He was personable and knowledgeable about the region, history and culture and had a wonderful
sense of humor to boot! He was absolutely amazing. We all fell in love with him, his wit & knowledge of wines and Barcelona of course.

The staff at Rutas del Vino/Vintage Spain were extremely knowledgeable and responded quickly to our inquiries, and presented a couple of choices. Ultimately, we chose a private tour (four of us in our party) to a small,family-owned winery with a charismatic owner who turned out to be one of the pioneers of the Priorat's
rise to prominence as one of the world's new great wine regions.

We were greeted by Carlo, the owner of Clos de l’Obac, who proceeded to give us insight and a history of the renaissance of Priorat wines, including his personal story of how his winery grew in fame and reputation.
Meeting Carlo was one of humbleness and his steadfast philosophy makes him a one of a kind pioneering winemaker.

We ended with an extensive tasting in a private room and were guided through several vintages of excellent wines, with commentary from the founder along with personalized tasting menu. This was an unforgettable experience for us all.

We followed up with a gourmet lunch at a rustic restaurant nearby, paired with (of course) wines from the region. We capped it off with a tasting and conversation about olive oil at an artisanal producer nearby. We grabbed a handful of cans for souvenirs, and headed back in our air conditioned van to Barcelona.

Highly recommended.

My wife and I decided to do a solo expedition with our host Alfredo, who picked us up downtown and provided excellent hosting throughout the day. I would highly recommend the 1:1 booking if you are looking for something more intimate. Alfredo selected a variety of bodegas all with their own charm and distinction. The best part was several of them typically don't operate a tasting room for public use, so using Vintage Spain was a great way to get a peek into these smaller "craft like" wineries while then balancing that with a powerhouse like Muga. We had also done other days of wineries with larger groups so this was a nice way to do our own thing and work with Vintage Spain to design our own route. Then when we were ready to head home, he suggested a courier service to ship wine which worked just fine and arrived about a week upon returning to the states.

From escorting us to a small, easily looked over spot for almuerzo, which was delicious (5 courses, and bottle of wine included with price), he stopped throughout Rioja several times to show us little details. This included the top of an ancient little town where you could see for miles across the Rioja valley, to dropping in on one of his friend's new business endeavors (a winery run out of a garage/storage facility) called Barbarot wines. The weather was fantastic too going in May, so that certainly helped as well.

Looking forward to our next trip there!

A group of 12 of us had a fabulous time on a tour from Lisbon through the Duoro valley, into Ribeiro del Duero, Rioja and finishing in Bilbao. Working with vintage Spain to organize the trip was very easy in spite of dealing with multiple inputs from our group. Cristina and Yolanda were great to work with as we went through the planning of the trip and always had suggestions to improve the experience. they were very good at recovering from issues that cropped up along the way, one being when our bus could not get to a location for lunch due to road restrictions. They arranged a lunch at a restaurant on the Duoro River and arrange for us to take s selection of the wineries produce for us to taste. In Bilbao we had a cooking class arranged and they had to rearrange the booking at the last minute due to thee original venue closing due to an an issue with their building.
A major plus for the portion of our tour in Spain was having Daniel (a trained sommelier) as a tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and really added to our knowledge of the two regions we visited. Another highlight was our second stop in Ribeiro del Duero at Territorio Luthier which turned out to be Cristina's winery. We all enjoyed the wines as evidenced by each couple arranging a shipment back to the USA.

In summary we thoroughly enjoyed the experience that Vintage Spain arranged for us and highly recommend anyone to use their services

Cristina & Yolanda prepared a luxury wine tasting trip for us to celebrate some milestone birthdays with our group of 6 (3 couples). It was the trip of a lifetime for us, and they exceeded our very high expectations at every stage. The itinerary, wineries, accomodation and most importantly our guide (Jorge), were all exceptional and I would highly recommend using them if you’re looking for a luxury wine tasting experience in Spain.

Rutas de Vino is fabulous. Cristina has an incredible team.
My wife and I have done 5 tours with Rutas de Vino.
Our first 2 were of Ribera del Duero from Valladolid and of Rioja from the
Ghery-designed hotel, 2016.
We did a tour of Penedes from Barcelona with a very close couple, 2020.
This trip we again did day tours of Ribera del Duero from Valladolid and of Rioja from the Gehry-designed hotel. In consultation with Yolanda of Cristina’s team we chose to visit different wineries than on our previous visits except that we again asked to have lunch with wine pairings at Baigorri. We enjoyed it very much on our first visit, no less the second.
Each tour has been excellent. The five guides we have had have been locals to the respective areas and knowledgeable about not only the areas in terms of wine, but also in terms of history. Spanish history is incredibly interesting and in many ways tied to wine production.
We hope to tour Priorat or perhaps Jumilla on our next trip with the Rutas de Vino team.
As we have planned our trips we have made suggestions of wineries we were interested in visiting. The team, on this last trip Yolanda, makes every effort to accommodate our interests, but makes suggestions based on their knowledge and availability. For example, some wineries do not do tours, such as Vega Sicilia, and others are not available for touring on Saturdays, so alternates were suggested. I felt as though I had good input into the final itinerary.
We chose day trips with pickup and return to our hotels. We wanted to learn about production in addition to tasting.
On our most recent trip we visited Abadía Retuerta based on the grounds of an old renovated monastery from the 1600s and surrounding vineyards, Valsotillo, Portia for tasting only, and Territorio Luthier, all excellent and friendly. In addition, we had lunch of typical roast lamb with pairings at Meson de la Villa in Aranda del Duero. Lunch was followed by visit to the cathedral in town, nicely renovated.
We had previously visited Aalto, Emilio Moro, Legaris, had a wine pairing lunch at Pesquera Hotel, and visited the Peñafiel castle.
Rioja included visits to Amaren, Tierra with excellent local input by our guide who grew up in the village, Tritium in addition to lunch at Baigorri. We had previously visited Valpiedra, Haro, Lopez de Heredia, Muga, and had a short tour of La Guardia.
We have no hesitation in highly recommending Rutas de Vino.

We did a day trip to Pendes from Barcelona and it was a wonderful day. We went to 3 vineyards - 1 large and 2 much smaller and more intimate. Our guide, Feliciano, was incredibly knowledgeable, took us to a wonderful place for lunch and was a joy to spend the day with. All in all, my wife and I would highly recommend the wine tour of the Pendes region.

My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful time visiting Spain in April 2018. While in Madrid, we did a day long wine tasting excursion with Jorge from Rutas de Vino up to the Ribera del Duero. We visited Bodegas Perez Pascuas, Valsotillo, and finished with a traditional Castillan meal of Lechazo at the Portia winery. Jorge was fantastic and the wineries we visited gave a great perspective of the region, ranging from the 500-year-old wines caves at Valsotillo to one of the founding families (Perez Pascuas) of the appellation’s DO certification to the ultra-modern wine making facility at Portia. Jorge was a delightful host and we will definitely do this again when we go back to Spain.

The day was beautifully organized and completely exceeded our expectations. We had an intimate tour with wonderful gastronomic surprises. George our guide was knowledgeable and very patient and allowed us to savor the day without pushing us. Cristina and Yolanda even made us an amazing dinner reservation for a different evening. You won't go wrong with this company!

Cristina and Rutas de Vino made for an exceptional, personalized, and very memorable trip. After a personal consultation on our preferred wine types, interests at wineries, and location preferences, her team returned an itinerary with a few options to choose from. We visited Rivera del Duero, Rioja and Penedes - all with friendly, knowledgeable, and professional bilingual guides. The wineries recommended were fantastic and we were greeted like family at all of them. The hotels were unique and luxurious. If you’re looking for the trip of a lifetime, look no further!

We just completed a fun, informative and meaningful tour of Rioja. This is the second time we have put ourselves in the hands of Vintage Spain. Cristina and Yolanda organized a wonderful itinerary reflecting the unique culture of the region, and we were very happy with all the choices we made from their suggestions. Jorge is an excellent, professional and knowledgeable guide. We visited unique and special wineries including Bideona, Amaren, Ramirez de Ganuza and Territorio Luthier. Jorge made sure we sampled local, specialty dishes each day and that we also visited the historical and meaningful sites in our vicinity like the Vivanco wine museum and the cathedrals in Santo Domingo de La Calzada & Burgos.

Vintage Spain organized a private tour for us of Madrid and Ribera del Duero in 2016, and we are so glad they have been able to endure through the hardships of Covid and still provide such excellent service and thoughtful care. They are wonderful stewards of the culture and beauty of Spain and the wine regions.
