Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a very striking transformation of a building.
Once an old 1900s power station, it is now a strange hybrid structure. The architect’s brief was to transform the historic 1900s power station into a modern art complex. Swiss architects duo Herzog & de Meuron really played around with this idea in a very innovative way. They removed the ground level so that the otherwise solid looking building appears to float or levitate. They retained the original, brick shell but topped it with a steel framed structure and added rusted steel cladding. We didn't go inside but it’s free if you are just having a quick around. Inside are shops, a café and gallery spaces.
I thought the best feature is ‘the Green Wall’, a hanging garden with 15,000 or more plants. At night it has a constantly changing light show illuminating it which made us stop in our tracks.
It’s just across the road from the Prado so it’s easy to take a quick look.

One of the most beautiful vertical gardens in the world. A center of exceptional architectural value. It combines the architectural style of the early industrial era of the early twentieth century with the contemporary avant-garde. Interesting center of culture and art. It carries out educational activities and temporary exhibitions at a high level with excellent style. Some of the exhibitions are free. One of the most interesting museums in Madrid. I love going to the exhibitions organized here, which are always very interesting. The building is a gem of Madrid.

The Caxia Forum in Madrid is one of the coolest structures you'll ever see. Somehow, they took an old unused building, excavated the base and raised it up to be supported by only a middle point. The resulting building appears to be unsupported and mysteriously floating in the air. You can walk underneath it and wonder what is holding it up. Next to the building is also probably the most magnificent vertical garden you will ever see!

The Louvre in Paris have lent the most spectacular set of exhibits to this 4e exhibition of Egyptology of animals... though seeming to miss the sexual connotations... well worth seeing... the autism exhibition is for me both sad and funny but not very illuminating, but worth half an hour of your time... this exhibition space is always worth visit... you may not like what you see!

This strange site came recommended by a tour guide. We had spent the morning in the Prado and Reina Sophia. It was very unclear where to enter, if there was a charge, and how to access the exhibit. I felt like I was sneaking around in someone's place of business. The architecture of the interior makes the visitor feel as though they are wondering around in a service area instead of a public space. When we found the exhibit on the art of Giovanni-Battista Piranesi, it also felt oddly assembled (to be fair, his art is a bit odd in an intentional way). We happened upon some friends who were eating in the cafe on the top floor. They said that it was the worst food that they had eaten. In a city with so much excellent food, it would be a shame to waste a meal in a bad restaurant. This museum might make more sense to people who have visited a few times, but was not a welcoming experience for this traveler.

We stayed in Madrid a few days and were dying to visit the Caixa Forum which was designed by the famous Swiss firm Herzog & de Meuron in 2007 from an old abandoned electrical station incorporating cast iron perforated screen above the existing brick walls and a striking green wall in the adjacent property growing (vertically) a number of plant species. Quite a breathtaking composition. When we were there there were exhibits of William Blake (not the happiest of artists) and the visionary Piranesi. We decided to go and experience the restaurant at the top floor to get the views across the Jardin Botanico. Great mistake. We assumed that the restaurant would have as innovative fare as the forward-looking building. Alas, it was a pre-fixe menu that offered a rice or noodle dish, glass of wine, salad and a slice of watermelon, for a substantial price. They brought the salad which was overly sweet, and we ordered the rice which was totally inedible given that it was raw, not al dente. We suggested to the waiter who had a nausiating body odor to have the chef taste the dish, and he simply shrugged his shoulders stating that that was the way the chef was sending the food out. The experience was most unpleasant. I would not go to this restaurant ever again and suggest that noone does either. Wine was awful!

This is one of the most interesting place with exhibitions and the building with its vertical garden itself. High class exhibitions. Contemporary building. Interesting museum shop. Nice restaurant. A must for every visit in Madrid.

This is an excellent art centre with very interesting exhibitions offering entrance for a startlingly low price. It is an interesting building with a delightful restaurant on the top floor.
We saw two exhibitions here during our stay in Madrid, both were well presented and informative. Don't just stop and admire the green wall outside, check what's on inside as well.

How much time is needed for a visit of the Forum? 1 hr? 3hr? ??

I suppose it depends on your interest level in the exhibit but I would plan on at least 1 hour and perhaps 2
