We had a few hours to see Madrid and had seen the trixi bikes the day before. We turned up around 10:15 and were made to feel very welcome. 15 minutes later we had hired two bikes and a very impressive lock. Bikes were great and we had a lovely time cycling around Madrid. Highly recommend Trixi if you want... More

I like doing bike tours because most sights are a little more than walking distance and you get a guided tour. In Madrid I think you should definitely do this bike tour because it is even more true in Madrid. The sights are too spread to walk and it is not a hard ride at all.

Best three hours we (two adults and two teenage kids) spent in Madrid. Our tour guide Geza (forgive the spelling if wrong Geza!!) was friendly, highly knowledgeable and very informative with lot's of little social anecdotes. I mentioned during the tour that I was interested in getting tickets to that nights Atletico Madrid match and at the end of the... More

We started our city trip with a guided bike tour from Trixi. Very well organized, good bikes and a very entertaining and knowledgeable guide (even Dutch speaking, other languages would have been possible as well). Not only the traditional, but also hidden or unexplored highlights of Madrid were shown in the 3 hrs tour. After that we rented our bikes... More

Hi Michael and Piero, Thanks a lot for a wonderful tour which was the highlight of our Technical Excursion. The guided tour was full of enthusiasm and knowledge of the city. We think that the chosen route was excellent because we were able to see beyond the common tourist attraction which we would never have been able to discover without... More

This has to be the best way to see a city! The tour guide was extremely informative and friendly! He also accommodated requests for seeing sights not previously on tour. He made great recommendations in the city. I would highly recommend this tour group to anyone interested in biking.

Guide was a Hungarian guy who could speak several languages, Geza I think. He was terrifically enthusiastic about Madrid and Spain and gave us lots of interesting and historical facts about the city plus lots of tips which we used afterwards eg good places to eat/ see city views. The tour was about 2.5 hours and a great introduction to... More

This tour exceeded our expectations. We were lucky enough to get a group of 7, and a fantastic guide: Sebastien. Although we did see the highlights that might be demonstrated in a standard Madrid tour (Plaza Espangne, Retiro Park), Sebastien added many other lesser common stops and really made a connection as to WHY certain areas are important to Spaniards.... Excelent location to go to Retiro Park by bike. Nice bikes, friendly service, good price. We extended the bike tour by going on the bicycle path of Calle Serrano and exploring other areas.

Trixi bikes were so comfortable and made riding comfortable and a delight! Our guide, Geza, was fantastic! He was so informative, fun and knowledgeable! He encouraged us to explore places we were not aware of. I strongly recommend this tour if you want to fall in love with Spain and their people!

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
