Top ways to experience nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

It was my first time in Madrid I was recommended to go to a bar LA KARMA. The atmosphere was great! The drink where really good, but the staff messed up my whole experience. It was the bartender named Jorge. He was rude and drunk, witch made the whole experience terrible I will not be going again…. He started out really nice but began to drunk and then he got mean. By the end of the shift he got really drunk and made us the bar guest feel uncomfortable. after my friend left I stayed but he continued to me rude and being dismissive. Not a good experience.

Conclusion/Feedback: I enjoyed having tried this place. The waiter was polite and gently served the plates. The ingedrients were cut carefully and it was a joy to appreciate it's presentation. Two things I did not like was its location beside the street which i knew before and in my opinion the vegan chocolate cream for the cereals was too cold. Would definitively eat there again. More vegan options would be awesome!

Madrid doesn't really get going until gone 10pm so LaKama Cafe is a great place to stop by for afternoon drinks and/or a nice bite to eat.

There are chairs outside to sit in the sunshine and watch the people go by, or an upstairs balcony where you can do the same from a birds eye view.

Drinks prices are reasonable and the little Foccacias they serve are lovely! The decor inside is quirky too. It helps that the staff buzzing around are nice to look at too!

Very much worth stopping by if you're in the area.

we immediately loved this lively gay bar. great music , great videos and handsome bar staff..
Sadly we waited ages to be served and the four margharitas were all returned as we had asked for them to be not sweet but these were so sour as to be undrinkable.

This is an excellent bar. They have three bars all quite near each other. One on calle Hortazela is more chilled, has seating and drinks are table service. Fun and tasty cocktails with great decoration - feathers, colourful straws, and cute 'tapas' snack of a small bowl of sweets is served with the drinks. The staff are friendly and all wear dungarees which is fun. Another bar around the corner is more lively, order at the bar and more space for dancing. Order a 'super margarita' if you dare!!

I was on holiday for one week and by mistake I pop in. It was amazing, friendly staff and the most delicious cocktails I ever tasted. After that I was daily there, I was feeling very comfortable there. I can't wait to go again. Definitely recommend! PS. Love the Mini beers and Mojito!😍

Unlike disgruntled Darren W below, we had a lovely time here and the staff were very friendly.

We drank here for about 3 hours and people watched from the second floor terrace tables facing the corner of Figueroa and Hortaleza. It got very busy around 10pm and our seats were coveted by everyone, and people even offered to buy us drinks if we would tell them when we were leaving and give them our table 🤣🤣🤣.

There is a list of crazy looking tropical drinks.

Just be polite to the staff and they will be polite back to you 😎. Maybe Darren W should have tried that ......

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID.....DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME if I could give this place a minus it would be given it. The place is full of staff who are rude and only interested in talking to themselves. They totally ignored us and we sat there for a length of time and decided to walk out. The place wasn’t busy in the slightest. Seriously avoid this place and spend your money on a well deserved bar

I‘ve had some of the best cocktails I‘ve ever had here in Madrid!
When we arrived the service was very attentive and friendly. The cocktails are delicious and colorful decorated.
Even 30 minutes later when the bar was crowded the waiter offered his help (without asking) finding a cocktail.
8 Euro a cocktail was absolutely worth it and we will be back soon!
