A must see if you are visiting Gibraltar. However, take care not to take any food or russle any bags as they are very cunning thieves and will steal anything they think is edible. It's not unusual to see one on a rock eating someone's...More

It's hard to miss the Ape's Den once you're up on The Rock and provided you keep your distance and leave behind any bags and food, it's wonderful entertainment, especially if there are any cute baby apes. There are other parts of the Rock where...More

The apes are very entrtaining to watch while they remove the fleas from each other. We were lucky to see some new babies which were very cute. The apes were introduced from Africa by the Moors.

I have to say that this has improved since my last visit (45 years ago!) however I am still nervous of the apes. Now that they are fed officially rather than relying on tourists for food, they pay far less attention to the tourists but...More

Great place. Lots of apes. beautiful views and nice walk to st Michael caves and other attractions. Nature trails. Don't take carrier bags as apes think you have food and will snatch it. Lovely bar with great views and snack bar and souvenir shop upstairs.

When we visited there were loads of Apes around the top cable car station and St Michaels cave but none in the den. I expect it was that there were no people around that area to keep them occupied! It looked like a nice area...More

I would be careful with that. When we went there were some young baby ones and some of the adult apes were pretty aggressive. Remember even though they see people daily they are wild animals. Some will come up to you... More

You can get to the apes den easily by going up in the cable car or you can take a taxi trip up which takes in all the important sights, apes den included.
