Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There's not a lot to see and do in Vigo and a taxi ride out to the Museo do Mar de Galicia is a good way to spend a couple of hours. The museum is divided into numerous sections and it culminates in a visit to a small aquarium. No photography is permitted inside the museum.

I would highly recommend a visit to Maritime Museum . Its easy to get here via public transport or a taxi. The entrance fee is very reasonable. although the first section wasn't translated from spanish to english it still kept my attention , the section on that gives the history of the development of the fishing industry was really well designed and translated in english . the setting was just amazing, i was totally absorbed in the experience and lost track of time completely. I would highly recommend a stop off here. check the website for opening hours before you travel there . the only recommendation I would have would be to translate to English some more sections of the museum. Lovely aquarium with local marine species. The museum itself is also interesting, although it would be better with more english captions.

This free museum gives a fascinating insight into the history of the local fishing industry. It charts the progress of the industry, and has wonderful displays showing the processes involved in canning fish, with photos of the huge numbers of people, mainly women, involved. There are some magnificent models of sailing ships through the centuries, too. Highly recommended

Of great interest to those who love the sea and the history of fishing in the ria of Vigo, an important centre for Galician seafood. Local bus service but lacks a cafe

This maritime museum is a gem ,the building itself ,an old canning factory,is a joy to behold and the unique exhibits teach the history of this coastal region in Galicia and also the shipbuilding tradition in Vigo

Went to visit the museum whilst staying in Vigo. The building is really cool and the views of the bay and coast are fantastic. The museum is bigger then I thought and has many exhibitions-definitely worth a visit.

We loved every aspect of this charming museum, especially the museum cafe, which had lovely views and charming and enthusiastic service. The only pity was that the place was virtually empty even on an August Bank Holiday Saturday (and that moronic cretins had sprayed graffiti at several points).

It's definitely worth the travel (by bus 2.64€, 2 tickets of 1.32 each). I went early so the light was beautiful, didn't go inside because I wasn't interested in the collection. But the building is beautiful, well placed and harmonious with the environment.

This museum has the potential to be a fantastic attraction. Galicia has a very rich heritage associated withe the sea and the fishing industry. Unfortunately, it looks like its been put together by a design consultancy in Madrid! Lots of arty photographs and a random collection of fish and aquatic species stored in jars.

Virtually none of the exhibit notes are in English. So unless your Galician is up to scratch then forget the notes!

By the way, its advertised as opening at 10am but we arrived to a notice saying it now opened at 11am. Given its location we just had to sit around for an hour.

Don't bother.
