We arrived by rental car from Barcelona, an easy drive high up onto the mountain. Very busy, but worth visiting. Plenty of cafeterias and we were allowed "vip" parking due to my broken ankle in the middle of the village. Lots of steep ramps and some stairs, so those with limited mobility should be careful. There are some lifts and... More

Loved this place and I'm terrified of heights so don't be put off! There are several ways to get here, car, cable car, drive, walk or train. We took the train and whilst it was very close to the edge at no point did I feel the terror of a bus ride around the Amalfi Coast. The monastery itself was... More

From Barcelona it's an hours train ride, 5 min cable car ride. Go on a sunny day and you will be rewarded with magnificent scenery. If your fit walk the hundreds of steps up the mountain until you are high above the monastery it's well worth it for the panoramic views. There is not a great many things to do... More

This is an awesome place, for several reasons. First and foremost, it is a well known monastery and shrine of the Madonna of Montserrat. As such, it is a very holy site. It is also famous for its boys choir, made up of young boys who attend its well regarded music school. The choir performs daily at 1PM and is... More

A beautiful place to visit, the drive up itself was excellent with great views all round. The monastery is just wonderful, can feel the beauty of the place. Do come in early as the queue to see the Black Madonna can be very long. The church itself is wonderful place to walk and absorb it in. Walking through the place... More

Absolutely beautiful place! very peaceful and the views are amazing. We walked all the way up to the church (we were exhausted!) but great work out. As youre going up the stairs. Only thing is theres alot of pick pockets around the area so keep your belongings tucked away.

I have been there many times and would like to visit again. It is a very nice place for your spirit. You can walk there many days. It is worth to visit at least once.

We could've done a lot more than we did. We mostly walked around the monastery part. The line to see the Black Madonna was incredibly long so we passed on that. The views are beautiful. We saw a couple celebrating their marriage. We opted to travel by Metro (Espanya station) and not take a tour as we wanted to leave... More

The only reason why I give it 4/5 is because there wasn't much to see. The church was nice but there were just too many people when we went. Before going to the actual church we took our time in looking at the landscape! BEAUTIFUL! Definitely worth going. Recommend NOT taking a taxi because they are expensive, try a planned... More
