While the church has a medieval founding, the current building is one of the few Baroque structures in the city. It was founded by a King of Aragon with a religious order for dealing with captives particularly those captured in the wars with the Moors...More

A nice, authentic church that is beautifully built yet is not one of the listed tourist attractions. Easy and quick access, a reall living church with beautiful architecture. Spiritually, there is a heavy emphasis on Mary vs. Jesus though there is plenty to see. There...More

It is not a popular place for visitors, nor does it look like much from the outside, but I really, really recommend that you take a look inside. The details are beautiful and you must go up behind the altar! You don't have to pay...More

A very charming church close to the Port Vell area which seems to be "off the beaten track" as there is very little tourist visitation, highly unusual for Barcelona. The interiors are very pretty and inviting, and the side chapels feature some very fine religious...More

Stumbled across this stunning building accidentally and had to go inside. We're not religious but what a stunning work of art this place is both inside and out- breathtaking and if your in the area its definitely worth a look inside x

The basilica is in the Gothic quarter of the city, set just behind the busy Passeig de Colom near the sea. It faces an open square and is the only Barcelona church to feature a Baroque facade. The statue of the Lady atop the dome...More

There are a lot of better basilicas in Barcelona, it is quite small and has nothing special, not from the inside and not from the outside. If you are around take a look, but it isn't worth to go there specially for this basilica.

We were walking by and saw the opened door. The interior is beyond belief. In a relatively small space the religious experience is mystical.

Like others, we stumbled upon the beautiful Basilica just off Barcelona Harbour by spotting the rooftop statue of the virgin peeking over the harbour front buildings. Quiet and peaceful inside, it was more a place of worship that a tourist attraction and inspired us to...More
