We found Placa Reial by coincidence when we were looking for our booked restaurant near the square. Plaça Reial is located at one of the side streets of La Rambla. Despite it's not big, it is a majestic and relaxing square which its 4-sides are surrounded by traditional Spanish noble buildings with elegant porticoes and terracotta decorations. Within the square, it has a beautiful fountain, lampposts designed by Gaudi and a number of tall and beautiful tropical palm trees. Plaça Reialis also one of the most famous nightlife hubs for many locals as it hosts many lovely top restaurants, bars and outdoor venues. In my opinion, it's a MUST VISIT square when you're near La Ramba, I absolutely love it.

Placa Reial is just off the Ramble in the Barri Gotic and the square is a beautiful oasis. It is lined with restaurant and bars under the colonade and gives it a feeling of a city within the city.

The square hosts a book market from time to time, and its centre piece is the fountain by Gaudi, who was a very versatile artist. From the windows of our hotel in south west corner, we had a splendid view of city life. My favourite place for paëlla, Les Quinze Nits, is one of the many restaurants along the colonnade.

One of the most charming and vibrant spaces in the city, it was great to relax for a time amongst the lovely surrounds.

A centrepiece is the attractive fountain with figures of Three Graces under the canopy. All around are elegant buildings atop grand porticoes.

A further attraction is the decorative street lamps designed by a young Antoni Gaudi.

This a very popular tourist and busy square. It comes to life at night.

Truly the most beautiful square in Barcelona. Full of bars and restaurants tucked away just off Las Ramblas. It is the epitome of Barcelona in both architecture and style. There are a number of well reviewed restaurants and bars on the square and just off.

Placa Real seems like Placa Mayor (old main square) in the rest of Spain.
It's a rectangular square with many bars and restaurants at the ground level of the circling old residential buildings around it. The central part is dotted with palm trees and it is a popular meeting point.
However, I wouldn't consider having my drink or meal here, as it's a high tourist area.
Imo, it's rather a pass by, 10 min stop visit.

This is a really cool square. It looks worn out and a bit stained, but that is where its charm is. We can tell without trying that the food here is not the best as the restaurants look like tourist traps, but the vibe of the square is appealing. This place is probably good for drinks, but not for food. Someone here mentioned “secluded” and it is all but secluded. This is off Las Ramblas and nothing that is near Las Ramblas is secluded.

Close to our hotel we walked here all the time and really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's quite a large square surrounded by pretty buildings with a nice fountain in the middle. You can get a takeaway or a coffee and enjoy the surroundings.

The square was built in the 19th century, designed by Francesc Daniel Molina i Casamajo. Previously, this place was the old Capuchin monastery of Santa Madrona, which burned down in 1835. The square was originally planned to be called the "Square of the Heroes of Spain", but for political reasons it acquired its current name.

The Plaça Reial is a public square in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona and close to the southern end of La Rambla. The whole of the square is surrounded by arcades and buildings, which reminds me a lot of Plaza Mayor in Madrid. This is a popular tourist attraction, especially at night. The plaza has a large number of cafe, restaurants and several nightclubs, including Sidecar, Jamboree, and Karma.

When you’re in the square, make sure to look out for the Gaudi designed lampposts.
