The modern sculptures are at least different. The giant crayfish was the street sign for a restaurant. The restaurant has vanished and its sign goes well with the sculpture of the woman. The older buildings are pleasant and it is a good place to amble

This Barcelona’s district is one of the most artistic ones. Among historical beautiful buildings, you can find enormous pieces of modern art that give the tone of diversity of the place. It is a great area to take a walk during the sunset or afternoon and there is a beautiful beach you can relax at.

Took a walk down the wonderful boardwalk all the sea front and was disappointed in the amount of people who were selling the same goods all along the pavements. At one time it was impossible to access the beach without walking over scarves handbags and sun glasses. The area itself is beautiful and there are plenty of place to sit and... More

The beach was alright, almost too crowded and the day we went the waves were too high to go to the sea. Restaurants and bars close by were great though.

The atmosphere is so relaxing, the small streets with the sun shining through and asking you to walk to the beaches. But first all these local restaurants some better than others . Do not forget the market and the famous Baluard bakery, worth a visit!

Great place for a stroll-lots of little coffee/snack places to take a rest and view the luxurious yachts and take a breath from the bustle of the city. Lots of good eateries too. A lovely spot in the sunshine or in the evening.

You will find this as you pass by the waterfront area. This was built for the Barcelona Olympics, just in front of the harbor.

One of the neighborhoods in Barcelona, has a lot to offer: modern art sculptures, classic architecture, harbor and beach area and last but not least: chill pubs and cafes. Our group of 5 just went strolling in Barceloneta, stopping for quick coffee / drinks every hour or so and we're delighted with the varied and cozy establishments. Combine with city... More

Was out for a walk so rambled along here. It was a bit cool and windy so there were no crowds at all.

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
