Gorgeous museum and a large selection of quality art collections. There is an app so be sure to ask the ticket agent as they have a sign with details. It is not called the typical name. I am attaching a photo with the info. The art has little English translations therefore hard to appreciate the history and story without the app. We did not see many people with the app and it definitely made the experience so much better. This is worth a visit for sure! Especially the Romanesque art collection with many saved paintings from old Catalonian churches that were destroyed. It is a fabulous display. We spent 3 hours and that was barely enough time.

Many of Gaudi's building interiors have been transfered here as buildings have been demolished. Also som interesting Romanesque art and frescos from churches in the Pyrenees that have been lost to hydroelectric dams. Special exibits well presented. A MUST SEE for all visitors to Bcn

We really wanted to visit this museum but due to lack of information we got off the hop on bus at Plaza de España and could not find a way up without using escalators or stairs so could not visit. Later discovering a stop on the bus further round but by this point I was too tired to attempt the visit having wasted energy trying to find access from the escalators.

Stunning view from the museum, worth to visit just the building and location as well. Reasonable prices and there is a student discount as well. Huge amount of art in one place, it took us to see almost 2 hours just the first floor. Interesting exhibition rooms, unfortunately English translation of titles/descriptions were missing almost everywhere. Exceptional collection of modern art including some Picasso and Dalí pieces. You can wander around comfortably since it is not crowded at all. Perfect for a rainy day.

Beautiful views as you ride up the hill to get to the musem. As you are entering you can see a panorama of Barcelona with the Sagrada Familia in the distance. We viewed the exhibits that show the frescos that were literally removed from the walls of many of the old village chapels. These Frescos were painted on a linen type of material that was fixed to the walls. There is a video that shows how painstaking it was to remove them. It saved 17th century art from being plundered and or destroyed by time as these places were abandoned by the peasants who moved to the city for work.

Very unique and well worth the trip to see this preserved art. They were built out into the shape of the chapel they were taken from! Amazing

Much more to see in the museum, but for me this was the highlight

It took me three hours in total to see the permanent exhibition and the temporary Gaudí exhibition. The Romanesque art collection is awesome. Do not miss it. Also, do not miss the first floor of the museum dedicated to Modern Art. You will see there interesting avant-garde paintings (the Catalan Noucentisme) and the magnificent “Portrait of my father” by Salvador Dalì. After 2 hours of walking and taking photos I took the elevator (in front of the WC) to reach the super elegant restaurant Òleum which is always fully booked but certainly offers the best view of Barcelona. As you exit the restaurant on your left is the large ceramic mural by Joan Mirò it was made for the IBM and later moved to the museum. Below it (and beyond the lobby) is the impressive Great or Oval hall of 2,000 m2 and in it you find the museum cafeteria. I suggest you to order the delicious Rainbow cake!

A real must for art interested tourists. The chapels-transferred from the Pyrenees and their frescoes- but also the lesser visited painting section with paintings from Thyssen- bornemisza collection in Madrid
